Nutrient level, phosphates and coral coloration

I echo: nice pix.

I wonder too about what happens to lps poo: these corals do produce a bit of waste, and I wonder if there isn't a food chain with the sps's picking it up.

My sps tank is a disgrace in the amount of poo of all sorts floating about: I have tons of bristleworms, spionids, those two-tentacled worms in the substrate just everywhere, pods crawling everywhere, so probably the amount of light getting through has far more than the occasional microbubble to contend with. The plate coral is particularly protein-hungry, and yet I don't get nitrate or ammonia or phosphate at all that I can find, and my skimmer is an Urchin, not one of the mega-skimmers. So it's got to be going somewhere. I do see two of my bristlier acros, a tenuis and an aculeus? ---snag cyclopeeze: my eyesight isn't good enough to figure out if it disappears. It's a puzzlement, but I'm certainly not the recommended model of a low-nutrient tank---again, color good, growth slower than expected.

I can't say anything definative about the Kent Coral Vite and Reef Essentials. Randy in Chemistry, whose opinion I very much respect, doesn't think they're worth much, but I do have that browned tenuis which is turning blue, and my orange short-tentacled plate is very bright and hyper-fat. So maybe it's the fish, maybe it's the bristleworms, maybe it's the additive. Back to the original questions: what and how to feed. I'm really intriqued by oyster eggs...I'd like to try some. How do you feed those? Turn the pump off?

I never tried the Oyster Eggs. I was always a firm believer in mush cubes. A blend of various foods, including oyster eggs if you like or any other food for that matter and you get a nice variety of different size food particles. I never believed in target feeding SPS but I am no expert.

14 K bulbs at least or 20K bulbs!!!!!!!! Watch, the 10 K ;s seem to yellow things or lighten things(no pun intended) Switch to 14 K's for a year and if you dont like try 20K's(but if your skeered stay with your 10K's. 20K's dont say i didnt tell you, but you will see a little less growth tho by the way

alright just read up on your thread, seems like im having the same problem, i want deeper more rich colors, I however am using 14k aquaconnects, so its most likely something else. I also just posted a thread about this too.
