This has been posted on our .org forum. Just wanted to share the info to those that may not post there.
I am honored to have brought in a world known author, writer and marine biology professional to the great folks of Northern Valley Reefers. Charles Delbeek will be down in our our area to speak on the topic of development, creation, maintenance, trial and error of the California Academy of Sciences; Steinhart Aquarium. This is a must see presentation to those who have or plan on visiting the Steinhart Aquarium.
An additional bonus to Charles coming down is that he is also a Senior Biologist for the Steinhart Aquarium. In working connections with the Steinhart Aquarium, Charles has made it possible for 20 members to have the cool option of "going behind the scenes" with the Pumps and Pipe tour and seeing what and how the Steinhart Aquarium works. This is definitely something that I'm sure we'll all be wanting to see. This portion of our meeting will be held the following day of Charles's presentation. As many people can attend the Steinhart Aquarium visit, but only 20 from our group can go on the Pipes and Pumps behind the scenes tour. Sign-ups will be available on the forum to keep things fair. The sign-up for the Pumps and Pipe tour will have it's own thread. **Contributing Members will only have access to the list, for which the list will be in the "Members Only" section of our forum.**
We also have a trunk sale after Charles's presentation. What is a trunk sale you're asking yourself? Well we all have those random odds and ends that are tank related sitting around, but we have no clue on what want to do with it? Or that extra powerhead or heater laying in the closet...yea we all have those items. Well the trunk sale is pretty much how it sounds. Bring your junk, and slang it from your trunk! Bring anything hobby related and sale it to others that might be looking or wanting something. This is not a coral sale, not a shop expo. More or less a yard sale from your trunk
Members will be able to contribute to club at this meeting. We'll also have a small raffle at the end of the presentation before we go on our trunk sale. So yea, sounds like a pretty cool April meeting huh?
