Aug 2nd is going to be the big BBQ/Frag Fest. We will be raffling two Bears Tickets to a game to be announced. The seats are two rows off the field next to the tunnel the Bears run in and out of. Raffle tickets for the bears game will $20 a ticket, these seats on stub hub go for about $200 a ticket. We will also be raffling of some smaller prize(prize TBD). The BBQ will a pot luck BBQ the club will by meat and buns, but if pop, chips, salad and so on can be brought by all who attend will be much appreciated. We will be having a speaker coming to talk with us(topic TBD) he will also be bringing in frags of all sorts. If we can start getting a head count and what you would prefer to bring to the BBQ. I know it is early but we would like to be able to start looking at the cost for the club to purchase meat and buns. Also if you have frags to bring to trade that is great, the only thing we ask is if you have frags for sale that you post the coral type and price at least 48 hours in advance of the 2nd so that there are no surprise and people know how much they need to bring with them. Thanks for the support over the last couple of months, and we hope this can be the first of many summer BBQ to come.

more info to come on www.nwimac.org

I can get you guys buns FREE. PM me before the event and let me know what you need and I can drop it off at Exotic Aquatics the day of or before.

hey there is a change to the price of things. raffle tickets are going to be $20 for non-paid members and $10 for paid members. You can buy as many raffle tickets as you want the more you get the better chances you have to win

so if you pay your $10 membership fee for the club, then you get the raffle ticket for $10 as well, and it costs you the same.

only for the first ticket, but if you buy more than one every ticket after the first one is $10. You could also pay your membership before the BBQ and then every ticket you get is $10

breadmanmike why dont you just come

My wife works Saturdays and I have to take care of the little ones. ;)

I understand but maybe there will be a way that you can bring them, if you want, if you would rather not deal with it i understand. but if you want to try let me know and i can talk to doug and see if we can get something worked out

Sorry, I can't make it. Its just not worth driving all the way to DeMotte.

And the $10 and $20 prices are kinda high, being even higher than what people paid to get in at Rockford.

I hope you have a good turnout.

$10 is for your club membership, not to get into the BBQ. $20 is for a chance to win Bears tickets as a fund raiser for the club. If you pay the $10 for a club membership then raffle tickets for the Bears tickets are only $10. Getting to the BBQ/frag swap is free as far as I know. You just have to be a hobbiest. Obviously if you have no intention on joining the club, then you would probably not want to come.

I don't know how I managed to get labeled as not wanting to join the club. I thought that my intentions were pretty clear from the beginning that I would like to participate in any club that is formed in the NWI Region, but I would not consider traveling 40 miles to Demotte to participate in "local" club activities. The Demotte get-together is just too far for me to go, so I won't attend that one.

Regarding memberships:

At the first meeting that was held at EA, I was told that dues would be collected at the second meeting that would be held at CC. Chris said that people who missed the second meeting would have their cards mailed to them and the honor system would be used to assure that people paid their $10 club dues. well, i missed the meeting because I didn't want to drive in all of that fog, and I never got the card in the mail that I was supposed to get. And without any notification whatsoever, I got locked out at NWIMAC.org.

IMO the unannounced policy change and lockout from the system was a pretty lame way to handle the situation.

First, I think that when the club makes an announcement about how registrations are going to be handled, they need to stick to it. Changing your mind and back-pedaling just isn't an effective way to show that the club is being professionally managed and isn't just some Mickey Mouse operation.

Second, its unrealistic to expect that everyone is going to be able to attend every meeting. I have other hobbies outside of fish keeping, and since its not the only thing that I have going in my life, I will be able to make some meetings and I will not be able to make others. That's probably true for most people.

Third, its unreasonable to implement policy changes without advising the membership. It wouldn't take too much effort for the officers to send the club an email to let people know what is happening.

Evidently there was some sort of change in plans that got implemented. I don't know what happened, but I was unexpectedly locked out of the system at the board's site, which made it impossible for me to know what has been going on. Fuppets has been very helpful in trying to piece things together. I think that the way things were handled wasn't very professional, and failing to fulfill the stated procedures about issuing the membership cards reflects poorly on the club.

Mike, if I would have seen you at any events I would have just given you $10. I was looking for you in Rockford but we didn't see you, Kurt or Jimmy. I think that you gus are spending way too much time focusing on money and raffles and not enough time focusing on fish. But that's just my two-cent opinion. You guys are certianly welcome to my $10 to support the club in getting started, but please don't take offense if I don't want to travel to Demotte (its just too far away for me) or if I don't want to participate in fundraising games of chance. Those just don't interest me, and I hope that I'm not viewed as an outsider because of it.

I didnt even read your whole post yet Bob, but I NEVER said you didnt want to join. I merely said that the BBQ is open to anybody who is a hobbiest, and it is free, but that if you are not interested in joining our club you might not want to attend anyway. The "you" in my sentance was aimed at anybody reading the post, not at "You" being "Bob" None of the 3 administrators on the NWIMAC know what is wrong with your account. We did not lock you out of the site. You did lose access to the members only section. Thats not a real big deal as there hasnt been a new post there for sometime anyway. In the defense of taking away "members only" status, you never said why you were not coming to the meeting, nor expressed any interest in the club after the meeting at EA. I honestly do not care if you want to join the club or not Bob. I have more important things to worry about in my life. I paid the $10 dues for pootang and scottdwh. If you wanted to join and I knew it I would have done the same for you.

okay now that we are done with that. this post is for the BBQ on the 2nd all are welcome rember we will be having a speaker coming in but, it is mostly going to be a time to hang out and talk fish and anything else.

I'm on vacation then, I may be out of town. I don't really have any plans yet. I was going to stregis. I have changed my mind on that. Demotte is no problem for me, closer that stregis.

I would like to get tickets for a chance to see how the bears plan to blow this season.

Pesc - demotte isn't that far. I was on my way home from a birthday party in roselawn the night I got that mistery frag. If you want to you can ride on the back of the buell. :lol

Bob, I just tested your user permissions on the NWIMAC site and they seem to work just fine. What kind of error do you get when you try to logon there?

Doug if you can get the $10 that muddsoup owes me apply that to pesc's dues. I see him all the time, 2nite actually. Just let is know.

Is that muddsoup guy still alive? How is his tank.
