NYOS test kit initial review

Ahoy,
I needed more test kits and so I decided to try the NYOS line. Why? Well, they are good looking and I figured since they are the same/similar price to salifert, why not!

I bought the phosphate, nitrate and alkalinity kits.

Previously I have used a mix of api, salifert, red sea and hanna for these tests.

Nitrate:

Pros: none yet. Other than having pretty packaging.

Cons:
I am pretty sure I did it correctly. I followed the video, the written and picture instructions. I assumed this would erase issues with other nitrate kits where the color difference is difficult/matter of opinion without reference.

However, the color of my test looked more like the api yellow (mix of bright and pale yellow) for 10ppm but on this I could not tell.

Also, I thought, perhaps incorrectly, that all of their test kits gave at least 50 tests which would compare to marketingof other some other products.
However, it says 40.

Later this week I will try to test again.
I did my API version the night before (haven't fed tank/messed with anything since) and color range was 10ppm.

As an update, I sent back all 3 test kits.

Alk: Requires use of 2 reagents and only tells you the single digit dkh i.e. 9 dkh but you may have noticed a slight pink change at drop 8. That means you need to assume that it might be 8.5 or so versus 9.4 or something. The specificity likely does not matter, but jusst because Red Sea pro will let me know the difference, I am used to knowing more specifically the alk range.

Nitrates: Tried this test 2 more times. It was a little bit easier the 3rd time to tell the color difference, however, was not as easy as API, especially since the NYOS kit takes longer to prepare.

Phosphate: I know I haven't had absolutely 0 phosphates. I've tried this 3 x as well and each time I honestly cannot tell the difference between the first 3 or 4 versions of what looks like WHITE to me. When I compare with the API my phos is low, like .025 or .05 at the highest but on the NYOS kit I can't differentiate anything. It also takes at least 13mins to do this test. 3 min prep and 10min to wait for color to develop. Even the hanna meter doesn't take that long! Though I would go back to hanna in a second if they could put that powder reagent in a glass bottle and provide a tiny scoop measuring/dosing tool!!!

The point of my trying these was to get super accuracy and ease of differentiating. This was the claim on the video and website for the product.

Well so far I have used most of there test kits and they are very good, found colours easy to read
