So i got a beautiful percula clownfish from petco (no problems and tank bred:) ) and i got a fairly large Green BTA from my LFS (very healthy opens up, eats silver sides once every 2 days, no problems eating). The problem is as follows; Why will my clown not host on my anemone? What should i do to get him to host? Thanks!!

like 3 days, but it is tank bred (petco buys their clowns from ORA) so does that mean the chances of it ever hosting is really low? All he does is just swim around in my tank. Would buying a wild-caught hosting percula clown from my lfs teach him to host?

Wild caught and tank bred will both host. All of my clowns host and all tank bred. It takes a while, 3 days is nothing. My ocellaris pair took over a year, my b/w ocellaris and onyx took a few weeks. Don't give up on your fish after 3 days. There is a chance your fish won't host but you need to give it some time.

i put pics of clowns hosting anemone a week before a bought my BTA and my clowns hosted it witn an hour

hope this helps

3 days is nothing, it could take 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months.....they will be hosted when they are ready.

And as for them being tank raised as opposed to wild...that will have nothing to do with when they are hosted or not. It is an instinctive behavior and not learned.
