O-rings for RODI filter

Hi y'all,

I changed my sediment filter and DI resin this afternoon. It was tremendously difficult to open the filter canisters as always. However, this time I installed new GE o-rings from Home Depot on my canisters since 8Ball and someone else recommended to do so last time I complained about my difficulties about opening and tightening my canisters.

After I put the filter unit back together, Reilly hand-tightened the canisters for me. Then, I turned on the water and waited ('cause it usually leaks like a sieve when I do that.) Guess what. NO LEAK! The O-rings did the trick :).

We did not have to use the plastic wrench to re-tighten the canisters. I noticed that the new O-rings (two in a package) have slightly different diameters. They also came with small tubes of food grade silicone.

I am hoping that it will go a lot better next time I change these filters.

Glad it did the trick. It should be much easier to get off next time and if you need a canister wrench I think I have a extra you can have. Im sure Ill see someone close to you before to long or I could ship it for a few bucks

Thank you for the offer, but don't worry. I have one. I did not need it this time to re-tighten the canisters in order to stop water leaks. From now on, I am going to change O-rings every time I change filters.

If you have to use the wrench to tighten the hoousings enough to avoid leaks - time for new orings.

You shouldn't need new orings every time you change filters.

If you use the silicon, you shouldn't need o rings every time. If the lube's hard to find the local pool store should have some.
