O. scyllarus and T5s?

I hear that the peacocks do not do well under high intensity light as they are prone to shell disease yet I found a posting or a website that states which lights are too intense for them. I assume metal halides are to strong but what about T5 lighting? It probably would depend on the number of bulbs and the reflectors but would you guys say a 4 bulb T5 setup over a 40breeder would be too intense for the mantis or would a 2 bulb unit be more appropriated?

I have my O.s. in a 20H with T5's over it.

It's a 4x24w fixture, but I'm only running 1x10k and 1xactinic. The 10k only comes on for 4-5 hours (when I come home) - The actinic runs for a couple hours before, during and for an hour or so after the 10k.

My peacock had shell disease when I got it - I got it to molt off and have been running the above schedule for a few months with no signs of it (shell disease) coming back.

Mantis is very active, so I assume it's happy.

I have a 250W MH on my 65g tank which has coral and Griffin, a peacock. He has been in for about 3 months now with no problems. It is a deep tank (24 inches I believe) and he has plenty of places to hide from the light, so that might make a difference. Griffin is active, eats a ton, and has molted at least once since we have had him.

you should be fine with T5's.. how deep is the tank? how many watts are you trying to put on the tank? are you plaining on putting corals in the tank too?

on another note i am running a 65W PC on my 20g that has a peacock in it. i have yet had a problem with it so far.

New to the mantis scene, is 130 watts pc too much for a peacock? I have one in a 20 long and have about 16 gallons of water in the tank and the 30" 2x65W fixture on the top.

PC lighting is not intense at all compared to T5’s and MH lighting. I am getting a 4 bulb 36” ATI fixture and the tank is a 40 breeder so 36”x18”x16”. I am planning on keeping corals as well.
