I'm looking to find someone local to help me build a Fiberglass Box for my S10. Let me know, sure can work out some kind of deal for some help..

Thanks Bo

hey bo! I am actually thinking about building a box for my new ranger (cross fingers) in the next few weeks. Never done it before, but the cubes and theories from what I do know should not be too hard. What are you trying to do specifically?

from past experiences, stay away from plywood and stick with mdf, liquid nails, and lots of wood screws.... Try to make sure you can get the proper volume out of the enclosure, and go for it.... if you dont have the space, there are several sites/programs out there that tell you what size hole/pvc you need to port the box.

1 of my best friends has been doing it his whole life. He just bought a house in Apopka and hes needing some extra cash so hes doing side work now. Hes an installer at Ultimate audio and has been doing custom work for them for about 5 years now. Let me know if you want to get a hold of him.

In my experience 11 ply baltic birch has the best properties for speakers.
It ain't cheap - but it's worth it.
I have seen our boxes fall out of trucks and barely scratch the paint.
Ditto on lots of glue and screws - Not nails or staples, they will vibrate loose.
And if you can find it, dense pack insulation is much better than loose pack fiberglass.
If you don't want to layer fiberglass we have had success using truck bed liner as an exterior finish.

Granted our boxes are for concert touring - but the principle is the same.

Hey Chad! I want to build a box that will inclose Four 12's and 3 AMP's. To be built out of MFD and Fiberglass.

4 12s eh? You're going to be heard loud and clear from far away that's for sure. What kind of woofers are they? As of now, I have a L7 15 Solobaric. It hits pretty hard but is currently being underpowered. I have a Brutus Hifonics Amp powering it but Hifonics is only entry level. I need to buy the specific amp for my L7 so it can push some air. As for the box, I have a 1 inch thick MDF box with a vent on the left side of it. The box is solid. I got mine customly built off ebay but it was kind of expensive. It was $160 with shipping but it is solid nonetheless. I have blown a couple of speakers so far and its annoying. With 4 12s you're going to need a head unit and aftermarket speakers for sure. What kind of capacitor are you gonna be using?

PM me and I will show you some vids of my setup. :)

is the truck standard cab or extended? They'll fit in a standard cab if you use 4 12's that don't need a lot of ft^3. You'll loose clicks in the seat deffinately though, but it is possible! You saw how I had my stereo in my truck. That would be the best way to fit a big stereo in a little truck. I would deff. recommend just using a sealed box unless you know about ported boxes. I could tell you with my 2 12w6v2's each ran by a jl 500/1 that I built the boxes to specs off jl's website that they could have and should have been wayyyyy louder! I just sold the truck but took out the whole stereo, but I don't know if I want to put a system in any of the cars i'm trying to buy. (350z or g35) send me a pm if you got any questions as I used to be pretty big into car audio!!!

I have 2 high end JBL studio 12's, and 2 AR unlimited capacity tweeters that i would sell if anyone is interested. They were backups that i never needed from a system i had years ago. The 12's are the ceramic cones that you can hit with a hammer. ( so they claim, never tried it ) I don't remember the wattage or ohms on them, but if anyone is interested, i could dig em out and see. They ain't cheap though. The 12's i would want $150 each, and the tweeters $100 each. Would probably do $450 for all. The speakers that they were backup for used to knock my rearview mirror off the windshied, and blew my back window out of the frame once. The tweeters came out of the sound system for the Loyd Noble Arena in Norman Oklahoma, and can handle anything you can push at them. They were never installed there, just ordered extra for that system by a friend that was installing thier system. I believe i paid $225 each for them at wholesale. They have 40oz magnets on them i believe. The speakers are about 4 1/2 inches, and the magnets are 4 1/4 lol. They are the cleanest tweeter i have ever seen, but very heavy and hard to mount because the magnets are so big.

My truck is an extended cab. I have four 12" Boston PRO, Powered by an Alpine 1507 V12. I hit 147.6 last ime it was checked about 5 years ago. Didn't have to give up any clicks. I want to rip it all out and install all Sony. I want four new 12's powered by 1 amp per 12. Not sure of model yet. Then put 1 more amp for the mid's and hi's. All so with 5.1. Sony just came out with it's first double DIN. Should be on the market this month. $800.00
