O/T has anyone contested a ticket?

lol most of those snowbirds laught at the rain. I came from missouri where we still go to school in 5 inches of snow. A little rain isn't cause for anyone to slow down. Also he got the ticket for rolling the stop sign.. can't remember the last time I stopped at a stop sign unless there was immediately impeding incoming traffic.

yea I havent dealt with florida law that much, only been pulled over 3 times down here...but in chicago I dealt with it on a weekly basis...I swear when I say I've got like 20-30 tickets to my name. Not something to be proud of but U see my truck, and cops don't really like it. I've been harrassed most of my life by police. In the court of law...99% of the time they'll take the word of the cop over your word. P.s. just so you people don't think I'm a insanely horrible driver...most of my tickets are stereo too loud, window tint, color lights, license plate is crooked, stupid stuff like that. And on a good note I'm insanely glad that the cops have laid off me a little in florida cuz I wouldn't be able to afford all those tickets at 72.50/ticket. P.S. I've still got no points or anything like that on my license!!!

I know it is a failure to stop ticket, but in order for the cop to know they didn't stop, wouldn't they have used radar on them?
Or is that just my stupidity thinking? Possibly a point that can be proven in court. Test the officers ability to "clock with his eyes" moving objects. Like they more than likely did here. Get it now?
And if the snowbirds laugh at the rain, please tell them to stop laughing, and start driving!

lol, I believe its one of those things that your wheels have to physically stop moving for some certain period of time to be an offical stop so its not really a speed thing at all its just on of those they eyeing things.

well one way to tell when a car is stopped is that the whole body of the car actually rocks backward. aka the forward momentum is stopped so the weight evens out. the front of the car moves up and the back moves down. and then its just plain common sense to be able to tell when the car stops. Its not one of those things where they'd be able to prove that the cop wasn't capable of telling if the car stopped. The cop will say it didn't. If your going to contest it you got the 50/50 shot that the cop doesn't show. I know people that got out of speeding tickets because the cop didn't show, but I also know people that got extra fees because the cop did show. It's all a gamble!

If you decide to contest it make sure you dress up and act like the most humble nice caring compassionate down to earth human being ever.

Let the judge say their peace, speak when spoken to etc etc.. I know when you want to contest something with anyone its easy to jump in and interrupt and try to make your point clear but another way to have them believe your word is to just believe in yourself that you really did stop, don't let the police officer say anything that would feel like you're being bullied and just politely stand up for your point

If you come across as being the american sweetheart (and not like those crazy people on People's Court) then you probably have a very good chance at being heard if not having your ticket dismissed.

Remember you yes sir no sir yes ma'am no ma'am and oh your honor the judges eat up that your honor trash.

the first thing I learned upon moving to florida is that people in florida have no clue how to drive, drive me nuts when everyone on the road is going 20 mph on lake underhill just because its raining a little bit, I feel safer speeding as well don't feel so trapped, plus nobody is going to be rear ending me if I'm moving faster than everyone else.

That and if I wrecked my beautiful little car I would want to be dead.
Isn't the speed limit on Lake Underhill only like 20mph right now anyways? Plus it's a construction zone, ack! lol.

Not that I drive the speed limit, just thought I remember that from the other day.

yeah right by the hospital it is right now, but I do my main driving from chickasaw to alafaya and hypothetically if I was on this road and in this hypothetical situation the road was relatively clear of traffic in my line I might be found fly up it doing 55-65, and in this hypothetical situation if i was to be heading toward 436 I might hypothetically still be going 40-50. Hypothetically mind you, not that a good responsible citizen like myself would endanger my life or the lives of others by recklessly disregarding the live saving speed limits.

eh-id really like to find out how much court fee's are b/c thats pretty much the deciding factor right now. i looked on the website and couldnt find anything.

geeze what a jerk off of a cop man...gave me TWO tickets the day before my bday :-\....hes black listed lol

Have you tried calling the court i think they have like a helpline number someone should be able to figure it out over there

I would go to court and see if the cop shows up...

Believe it or not my Ferrari has got me out of a few tickets..Pulled me over then its like the cop forgot what he was pulling me over for and just asked me about my car. Wished that happened all the time LOL

lol-i was waiting for the ferrari guy to post! thats funny.

yea it was two seperate tickets...one for the seat belt and the other for supposidly "rolling" through the stop sign. and i had an expired insurance card...hes like "i was nice and only gave you two out of the three tickets you deserve."....there was alot i wanted to say to him...if you know what i mean.

that only gets you in trouble, I smarted off to a cop once spent 8 hours in lockup before I got my phone call, on thanksiving, it was worth it though.

Orange county? If so, the traffic court is very lenient and you'll either get off scot-free or you'll have to pay the fine and receive no points on your license.

This is only if you haven't had a ticket in a year or so though, but lets just put it this way, I've done it a few times now and it works like a charm everytime.

no it was in seminole-right behind scc-and its not my first ticket in a year-i got in an accident about 3 months ago and got a ticket from that.
