I have the 3G, not 3Gs. I am very disappointed in the new features that are available. There are a lot of new phones coming to the market that will be very competitive towards to iPhone, that have a lot more features that the iPhone is clearly lacking. I am a Mac lover myself, and I hate to talk down on what I preach, but they could have done so much better. Increased battery life, better GPS, true picture messaging (yeah they say it has it, but the US hasn't unlocked it yet), tethering (you can download a hack for this that works flawlessly. Great for long car rides) and many many more. I still think the iPhone is the best phone out there, but it won't be long before another brand takes over if Apple doesn't kick it into gear with the 4.0 update.

I've been a mac person all my life and like you said, you don't want to knock them, but they never give you what you know they can...they like spacing it out and making you pay over time and time and time

The phones may be great but I am not willing to change to AT&T and their pricing costs a bunch more than Sprint. I have been with Sprint for 6 yrs and just got 3 new Palm Pre phones with 1500 shared minutes/ unlimited texts (16 yr old daughter uses about 6,000-7,000 per month) / unlimited internet and unlimited in-network calling for $129/mo.

I listen to Rover's Morning Glory sometimes and he just got a new I-phone 3GS and is complaining that he has dropped more calls in the last week than he had in the previous 15 years combined.

I wish there was a 50,000 strong app store for the Pre but they haven't even released the official SDK yet so apps are coming in slowly.

I live in the middle of nowhere so spotty network coverage is not an option for us.
Good luck and remember that you have 30 days to decide if you want to keep them or not. Go everywhere that you want to use the phone and test the reception. I love having the GPS/NAV and I am starting to really like the physical keyboard on ours.

Pre would be one of the phones I speak of!! They are doing a good job with that, and I look forward to what they do with it. As far as dropped calls, I have had less dropped calls with my iPhone than with any phone previously. They have top mark rankings for internet reception and call reception ability. I have a friend at Verizon corporate who actually admits it power over the verizon line. And for all you verizon junkies, iPhone should be coming to it in the next year. I agree ATT and Verizon are ridiculously over priced. What they don't tell you, chances are, your workplace can get a discount through your phone company. They just require a paystub verification and you can get 15-30% off. Verizon has a much better discount program.

I have the new iPhone 3GS and upgraded from the 3g. With the new OS out having the extra memory and processing makes a huge difference in usability. I'm a hard core PC person, but swear by the iPhones

I haven't had a chance to play with the 3Gs to see how much faster it is running. Hopefully it runs as expected. I used to be a hard care PC person, but I had to get a MAC for school, and have had not interest in touching a PC after! I have to use a PC at work, and prefer it for gaming, but with programs like VMWare for the MAC, a PC just isn't needed. My laptop is practically as powerful as my gaming PC. Not to mention the MAC desktops are one of the highest upgradable computers other than custom built.

Hey Murph, I bought the 3g a couple months after it was released. I love it, its almost like a personal assistant with all of the features. One of my favorite apps is pandora. I havent played with any competitors lately or the most recent iphone but chances are you'll be happy with it. Will it have some quarks? Sure, but look at the hobby we are in, we have got to be used to some quarks by now.

I phone is hands down the best phone.. to bad you have to put up with att coverage. the first and most important thing I want my phone to be is a Phone! that dosen't drop call. keep the I touch drop the ATT go with verizen for a phone.

For someone that wants an iPhone and its capabilities though, Verizon just won't cut it. I have friends with the LG Dare and Blackberry Storm that stare at my phone in awe.

+1

BLAH BLAH BLAH... I'm jealous my company will not have I-Phones for a long long time, lol. Hopefully some thing new will hit the shelves in the near future with the same capabilities.

Mike, the problem is that even if your company gets the phone they will disable the ability to add ANY of the 50,000 apps.

I know a few people that are not very happy because they have to do some heavy hacking to just install basic programs onto their phones.

There are people already running webservers and crazy things on their Palm Pre. It is running a basic Linux system with the WebOS running inside it.

What company do you work for Mike?

I'm employeed by Alltel at the moment. I will be working for a company called Atlantic Tele-Network (ATN) for short here in the near future. They are in the process of getting all of the federal approvals they need for the purchase of the remaing territories that Verizon & ATT couldn't buy.

Fun fun stuff...

i have the "i heart radio" app on my touch ,,get tons of stations from around the country. Im a Jim Rome freak and love that app .
