Ocean Image Signature tank vs Bio Cube?

I am new to the hobby/addiction and have been reading and researching for about 7 months. I originally wanted to start small (200 gallons) and was vetoed by the powers that be. We have reached a compromise of a nano 22-40gal (I realize 30+ is not technically a nano but I’m the only one in my house that knows that!) I would like to keep two to three small fish, zoo’s, lps, and eventually sps and a clam. So I need good light and at least 30 gal to spread everything out. Does anyone have a recommendation?

I was looking at the Ocean Image Signature tank (40gal) and the Bio Cube (30gal). I would like to try to keep things simple and have the option of the more light intensive species as my skills progress. Does anyone know anything about the quality of Ocean Image tanks?

4 â€"œ No but you do get a neat tee shirt and travel mug. It was the mug that drew me in.;)

I originally thought that I would need extensive experience before attempting anything under 75gal. Since starting to read your posts I discovered that a newbie could be successful with a nano. I love the look of the all in one tanks but am worried that without extensive mods I will not be able to keep what I want in the future.

I'm not familiar with the 2 tanks mentioned. However, have you considered the Aquapod 24 Gallon Nano? It's an All-in-One, affordable set-up. It also allows for additional upgrades as your hobby $$$ grows. Upgrades can be conducted via nanocustoms.com or nanotuners.com.

The biocube is pretty nice for an all in one tank, I have a 14 set up right now. I would stay away from JBJ as they're prone to cracking. Finnex makes a nice tank (Finnex M tank) with a skimmer in it and Red sea is coming out with new nano with a skimmer as well. If you want a nice all in one I would recommend the 29 nano cube though.

My only problem / question with the Finnex is the open top which would limit my fish choice to non jumpers (no flasher wrasse). :fish1: Also does the open top increase the noise from the tank? While water sounds wouldn't bother me it seems to be one of the bones of contention in the household.

I was reading about the Red Sea tank and am intrigued. Since they are rumored to be coming out in October I will wait and compare cost and features with the Bio Cube etc.

Since no one seems to have delt with Ocean Image I will stay with the tried and true group and custom the lights etc.

i researched this alot. and ended up with a bio cube 29. quality was alot better then the aqua pod or jbj. but if you want to go mh then the bio cube is not offered with it. good luck
