ocean runner 2700 problem

I have a OC2700 pump for a small skimmer. When I got the pump the fittings where put together. Like this, http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merc...t_Code=TURBO-OR2700&Category_Code=Oceanrunner When I tried to seperate the elbow from the nut it broke. Not really thinking, I tried a 3/4" threaded coupler. Of course this broke the adapter that comes out of the pump.
At this point I'm thinking of useing weld on 40 to glue a 3/4" adapter to pump houseing. Does anybody have a better idea? Is weld on 40 OK?
I have tried useing another glue and it held together for a little while.
How do I make a descent venturi for this pump? I used and old one from a sedra 5000 and I had to restict vacuum line alot.

Maybe you could contact Aqua Medic for replace parts, I' not sure if they sell them, but it might be worth a shot. I don't think having to restrict the air line is a problem, if you use some sort of needle valve(air control valve) you should be ok. This also gives you the ability to dial in your skimmer and control the type of skimmate you are getting.

I don't want to sound mean... but if you broke the fitting off of the top of the pump you may want to reconsider your plumbing technique. That is a heavy duty standpipe with a half of a heavy duty union glued to it. What were you doing using a pipe wrench to cross thread another fitting onto it?

At this point, if you sheared the pipe off flush with the pump housing, you have real problems. Yuou can try building up a saddle of some kind with epoxy (or wo 40) but to be honest, if you have broken two heavy duty fitting in two seperate incidents, then you may want to enlist some help from a friend.

Well, first no way was that elbow going to come off. The fitting coming out of the pump is metric. The part that screws into the pump is close to 1/2" and thick. The otherside of that part is close to 3/4" and is very thin. The thread pitch was different but it did go on. I tighten by hand until snug and went to give it a little more and snap. Not even as tight as a common jar. In both places it broke it's 1/8" or thinner. I can measure for you if you'd like. BeanAnimal, do you have one of these pumps?
Is Weld On going to work? Is there a better glue for this job? I'm not sure I understand saddle? I can't just glue a PVC coupler to the houseing? There is enough flush area?

The elbow was not going to come off becuase it was glue on.

If the thread pitch was different (which it was) then you cross threaded it. If the piece you were threading on had a large OD then it would be easy to produce a lot of torque with a little twist. In any case that is a pretty hefty fitting. I have a OR 3500 hanging off of my skimmer via the ouput.

WO 40 may work if you get everything good and flat. PVC glue may also work. Test it on another part of the pump plastit (inside the piece you broke?) to see how well it melts it.
