Just wanted to make sure that it is okay to use ocean shells straight out of the ocean as frag plugs. Do i need to do something special, or can i just through them in the frag tank as are?????

should be fine , i would rinse them first and brush them off .

+1... but I'd soak them in Ro/Di for a week first.

I've been using turbo/astrea shells with some but found maintenance crews keep rolling them around on the egg crate and smothering new frags. I plan on getting some plastic flower plugs and gluing the shells to them for grow out. They should be easily broken off later when they are ready to move.

I would never use shells for frag plugs guys...unless you like your hermits (if you have them) carrying off your new frags....

Its very frustrating!

hahahaha..... not that kind of shell, they are from AL. They are the flat concave shell with the horizontal lines on them. Kinda flat, more like a frag plug, so no hermits will carry them off.

Ahh...very good then! Ive had a few like that!

Their must be a local guy mounting his frags on old hermit shells because i see basic softy frags mounted on them at a few lfs around here.
