Oceanic Salt

does anyone use Tropic Marin? This seems to be a big hit in the Chicago area.. But you don't see it alot in the St. Louis area. I know Velco sells it but don't know how well it sells.

Tropic Marin is a good salt, its just not consistantly available from what I've seen. Jan at Clayton Pet carries (carried), it.

I will be wanting to do a group buy on salt from DFS in the next 2 months. I am down to 1 1/2 buckets.

Let me know when you do. I'm in for a couple.

I noticed that also, I would assume from people doing group buys and they have to stick to thier 17 dollar shipping promise. :D

It looks like another RC sponsor, that fish place has comparable prices, and they have free shipping over $100 until January 26th.

I wont be able to order before then, but a couple of buckets would go over 100 so you could buy on your own. Only problem is they appear to be out of stock on Instant Ocean and Reef Crystals.

I can bring in Tropic Marin for $55.00 a bucket.. but I have to order a Pallet 36 buckets. dont know if anyone would be intrested. I would have to have the Money up front to place order. and should get it 2 days after i place order.

That is really cheap for Tropic Marin, but I do not want to switch salts at this point.

If you could get a good price on IO or Reef Crystals, I personally would not be interested, but I bet you could sell 36 buckets fast.

Found this in the reef chemistry forum.

I use Coralife based on a recommendation..I stick with it because:
I've looked into its stats compared to others since I've been using it, and It always rates near the top
I love the individual bags..
It's very inexpensive when compared to the other brands.
It Comes with a free T-shirt

I don't see why anyone would use anything else really...
but JMO...

I used Oceanic when I started this hobby and loved it! When i set up my 29 recently, I had to buy more salt and so I set up the 29 with Reef crystals (from reccomendation) and personally am not so happy with coral growth. I use a lot more salt to get to the same salinity that I used in the 10 gal and have more issues with red algae. i am going to be switching back slowly through using mixtures. I really would rather pay the $$$ for results. Michael, I will go in on a group buy with you. Please post before you order.

Check Slashclub.org members only section. Lon is doing a group buy. I am not ready to order, so hopefully I can get enough interest when I am, considering several people may stock up now.

thanks for the tip. that looks a little scary. i think i can wait. i still have two bags of Coralife, but i want to go back to IO reef crystals.
