Ocellaris acting strange

I dosed the prazipro last night after work, turned off the skimmer and tested the water.

All levels at 0 and ph at 8.2

He made it through the night but now is laying in the sand breathing heavily, barely moving his fins, and almost slowly falling over but catching himself, like someone dosing off at work. I'm afraid there isn't much left to do and I have been too late with treatment unfortunately :sad1:

I will continue to watch him and hope for the best..

Wilfred has passed, I think I was too late on the treatment or misdiagnosed :(

Atleast I am not waiting for him to either get better or to pass anymore, watching him stuggle was not enjoyable.

Sorry for your loss :(

ahh sorry derek...I guess you just have to chalk it up as a learning experience

Thanks for the condolences guys...

A learning experience indeed!

Things I have learned from this first saltwater fish:

Always inspect the fish at the store
First fish should still get a QT, even though it is the first fish.
Have a good selection of medications/tests on hand BEFORE something shows up
Understand you can't save everything, and that loss will sometimes be inevitable

Just want to thank everyone again on here that helped out, it was greatly appreciated! I have learned a lot from you guys as far as medications and treatment/QT techniques go. I plan to utilize every bit of this information going forward :bum:

Also I was reading another post, on something somewhat similar to this..I can't remember which post it was..( I have read so many!!!)
But one guy was saying that it is good practice.
1. before buying a fish, look and study them for as long as your able(maybe even take a couple of days. ask to see it eat(but don't take it home right after it does)

2. if after a day or two you are still seeing the fish in good health, maybe ask to see it eat again..pay for it and pick it up a day or two after..

3. ask them how long they have had that fish.

there might have been some others points as well..but those really stuck to me!!

This is really good, sound advice. I should've known better, but I was excited to be getting my first fish to add after waiting a month..

I plan to follow this strategy from now on. Not checking out the fish first was a big rookie mistake, I couldn't even tell you if the fish looked healthy in the store.

Later this week I plan to go get a new buddy, and I will observe him some good amount of time before picking him up!

Hopefully after a month or more of QT, the clown I have left now will take to the new addition and I'll get a pair going

If not, I'd imagine the two would live okay in this set-up unpaired?
