Ocellaris Clown Question

I have had two ocellaris clownfish in my 12 gallon for ten months now. They have been coaxisting together well during that time. They never paired up. One of them has been a little agressive toward the other. Recently it has been much more agressive, to the point that it satays near the top of the tank most of the time. I am afraid of losing the one fish. Is this common? Has anyone had simmilar situations with their clowns? I only have the two fish in the tank.

Thanks

This is very common and more info can be found just by searching (just about anywhere) for clownfish.

They are getting more aggressive because they one is either becoming female or already has been and isn't pairing up. The little aggression is ok, but if the other fish is not eating, and is showing visible signs of biting then I would take the weak one out.

This is sometimes the risk we take with attempting to pair up clowns. You can always try again maybe with a smaller clown that will not show aggression towards the female and will perhaps mate up quickly.

Ultimately, the larger will become the female, and the smaller the male. This level of aggession will persist until the aforementioned is the case. If they do not end up co-habitating, one will continuously be picked on, jump out, or pestered to death, IMO.
Don't mean to give negative news, but this seems to be end-result from my experience and reading about his fish.
