i just picked up two ocellaris clown fish a couple days ago and tried to feed them but they wont eat. I'm feeding flake food and the clowns go for the food but then spit it out. what do you advise i do? Thanks

it could be that they are use to frozen foods mine are actually the opposite they were feed flake at the store I bought them from I tried slowly changing them to frozen brine shrimp they didn't take til I started feeding both at the same time now I do flake in the am and frozen in the pm maybe your fish were only ever feed frozen you should maybe try to find out what the store you bought them from feed and go from there

Try and see what the LFS fed them. I saw that my LFS fed them pellets, so I bought the same brand and with in a few hours of it being int my tank, it was eating. I also feed my clown freeze dried cyclopeeze (fish crack), and for the first time last night Rod's food. Now if i can only get it to the front of the tank...

Cyclopeez.......I just had this problem last week or so. Two Picasso's that would not eat anything for about 7 days. I bought the cyclopeez and they totally tore it up. I did that for a few days and started mixing in brine and mysis with it and now eat pretty good.

If they are spitting it out, then the pieces might be too big. Try crumbling it up. If not, then start with cyclopeeze or new life spectrum (small fish formula) or Rod's food or mysis. These are all good to have anyway to give a variety of food. I don't believe in feeding one food all the time (although mixes like Rod's food are pretty good).

Someone told me to put garlic extract for mine so I grated my PEMysis and put a couple drops and they started eating. Now they are eating fine.

Definetly try some mysis. If they still don't eat it try some garlic like Debi mentioned. Good Luck & let us know how it goes!
