ocellaris eggs colors

two days ago, i noticed these eggs. now some of them have changed colors. does it mean the brown eggs are hatching tonight? thanks in advance.

You will know when they are going to hatch when you see little silver eyes on the eggs. They look like silver tips.

By the looks of them I'd say it'll take more than a day or two more before they hatch, how long ago were they laid? Mine hatch in 8-9 days. this is what you'll be looking for

pretty cool! thanks for the pic gar732. i have no idea when were they laid. i was away from home for a month and i saw them when i got home. the amount of eggs are much less compared to your pic. maybe because the pair is still young?

There is a learning curve for them when they first start laying. The more they lay the tighter the clutch will become and if you feed them well the clutch size will grow. They'll get better with practice. If you plan on raising them I would skip the first few clutches and focus on feed them really well. The more they feed the stronger the fry will be and the more will make it through meta.

i would put my money on tonight but i personally have no actual experience in hatching off fry so i can only speculate

Are you planning on raising these? You have the rearing tank and rotifers ready?

yes i'm planning to raise them even if only one fish will survive. if i don't do anything, they'll be eaten/dead anyway so i'd like to get some experience from this so that i could do better the next time. i have the rearing tank ready but as for the food, i don't have phytoplankton nor rotifiers. i'll need to travel to another country(thailand) to get those. for this time, i plan to feed nls micro feeder and if they get bigger, i'll move onto cyclop-eeze.

I have had a lil success useing ground up pellet foods, just ground them down to a very fine powder. The biggest trick to this is to have enough flow to keep the food suspended but not enough to hurt the fry.

I did only try this once when my rotifers crashed, but i did have 6 clowns survive. So it is deff worth a try till you get rotifers going.

some of the eggs hatched last night and i put the larvae in the rearing tank. there're some eggs left which i think will hatch tonight and when they do, can i add the new larvae together with the old larvae from last night?

Yes, you can add them together because they hatch close enough together

Those will need another day or two. The orange yolk sack will be pretty much gone before they hatch.

all the larvae lasted only 3 days. i guess they didn't eat the food i provided. the pair laid eggs again today. they're doing that every 2 weeks. but i'm not planning to raise this batch. i have decided to raise them only when i have rotifiers ready. it was very stressful for me the last time and i felt so bad for the dead larvae. thank you for asking.
