Ocellaris hosting in Euphylla sp.??

Hey guys,

So I have a 12g nano in my dorm room with a single o-clown. It's right next to my roommate's bed, so he gets to watch it a lot. He insists that the clownfish (about 2.5" now) is "playing" with the anchor coral. When the coral's happy (most of the time), it can spread its tentacles out to an area of about 4" x 6". Has anyone ever heard of a clown hosting with a Euphylla? Does the clown have to "acclimate" itself first, or something? If it does host, will my coral be okay?

Thanks!

I have several different types of clowns and they will host just about anything. I have a black saddle back that host either the Large hairy mushroom colony or my gigas alam. My Occ clowns will host my frogspawns, torch, or hammer, anemonie, xenia...you get the idea.

I have even heard of clowns 'hosting' into pvc corners with the same little clown hosting moves they do to anemones.

clowns will host anything including hermit crabs
watch out the clown may be hurting the Euphylla

Usually euphyllia will do fine being a host to clowns. I have to spawns that are hosts for clown right now. In fact, I seem to think the coral has done better since the clown started hosting it. I think they keep the coral clean of debris and help keep the tentacles of them moving more allowing more chance for feeding the coral. One of my clowns steals food from other corals when I feed to bring back to his host spawn...it is very cute.

Yeah, my spawns eat every evening to every other evening. One of mine opens up really wide. It's moth gets bigger than the RBTA's sitting next to it. I'll try to snap a icture sometime.

Cool! Thanks guys. I can't wait to see if it will happen.

P.S. - One of our UMiami Aquarium Club members has himself a pair of false black percula clowns (well, they're black) - and he's had them for a while. They're in a 12 gallon, and they're about 3 - 3.5 inches. He really wants to breed them... When do they spawn? I have access to several 1000-liter rotifer cultures so we could totally raise the fry. Ideas?
