Ocellaris/Percula Pair

I have one little male ocellaris clownfish, who just lost his mate to a long power outage (they had been breeding for over a year). I would like to get another clown so he is not alone, but lately I have been thinking about getting something a little different. I have been eying the picasso clownfish, but I know they are percs. Will these two fish form a mated pair? I was also thinking about the misbar clowns. Would these work?

Thanks for your input!

I dont think it would work. IMO for something like that to work the fish have to be paired verry verry young and basically not ever see any other clownfish. Kind fool them ya know...

However there are a bunch of kinds of Ocellaris clowns available. black and white, misbar, naked, snowflake all work.

Tricky part is that your male will become a female if kept alone for awhile. I think if it was me, Rather then risk two females.

I would give the male about a month or 2 and then try to introduce a verry small new fish(male). to your now hopefully female existing clownfish.

Best fo luck

I just wanted to make sure that this is in fact an ocellaris clownfish

His orange color is darker than the clown that died. I always noticed he was redder. His black stripes are very thin, however, he looks very similar to the true percula clown shown here:
