Ocellaris "school" in a 55G?

Anyone had any success keeping more than a pair of ocellaris clowns, or a mix of ocellaris & percula clowns together.

Have 2 small ocellaris clowns (2" & 1.5") along with a small royal gramma and 3 very small chromis in a 55G. Had a thought about adding another pair of ocellaris or percula (as small/young as possible).

Thnx.

Typically multiple clowns will do one of the following and none of them are good for your size tank:

Form seperate pairs and stake out their own territory. If this happens they may fight.

A dominant female may arise and could form a small harem of 2-3 fish with the others being male. If any of the others do not change to males then they may get isolated from the group by the dominant female.

I have seen the later and it is not fun to watch that one clown all by itself constantly trying to make it's way back into the group but then ran off by the big female.

well you have another option introduce as many juvinile occ. as you want i wouldnt do more then 3. heres how you do it. find someone in your area that is breeding occ. clowns. there has to be someone. and buy some juvis. all at the same time since your clowns you have now are small. you'd have to get em when they were under an inch. id say the ones you have now are a pair. 1.5" a female and the 1" a male.

never attempt to heard more then one species of clown.

Guess I'm fortunate my 2 ocellaris have been showing most of the signs of being a mated pair (one much bigger than the other, almost always together, even sleep next to each other, etc). I should probably let them be since they look so happy together. Locating small juvenile ocellaris is probably not easy in this area, plus compatibility isn't guaranteed, so..

Duh.

After I posted, I read the "Clownfish & Anemones FAQ" sticky on this forum. Kudos to RC staff/authors. The pairing/mixing faqs were extremely clear and concise. That set of FAQs = excellent. Pretty much answered all the other questions I had on clowns.
