My friend has an Ocellaris Clown with a strange growth on the side of it face. It is white in color and is sticking out about 1/8", and is about the diameter of the point of pencil lead. He has it in quarantine tank and is wondering how to treat it.

Any suggestions on what this might be or how to treat it?

Don't have a Pic, have asked him to get me a picture as he does not have access to a computer to post anything.

Any help would be appreciated !!

Do a google search for lymphocytis (sp?) .. a viral disease akin to warts in human. If lympho then I would not worry ... not fatal .. no meds will help .. and often clears up on its own. You might try soaking your food in some selcon or something similar .. just try and support the fish's natural immune system and lt it cure itself.

Lymphocystis usually affects the fins, or tail sometimes the mouth and gill cover and causes cauliflower sized tumors. It's caused by a virus. Nothing to do but wait to see if it clears up.
