Octo Death....

Well, My Octo died late last week. Not sure what happened exactly. He had been in his new tank about 2 weeks. He was eating fine up until the day he died, but was just not out as much as normal the last couple days. Not sure what happened here, all the levels were fine. I have really tested everything I could to make sure the water was as good as it could be. It just flat out sucks though.
Having a reef tank as well, I see some pretty cool things out there..but nothing could even touch this Octo. I really do miss him.
I will probably be getting another one soon as I had planned on getting another one for the old 30 gallon I orig. had this guy in. Ugh.

Sorry to hear about your loss Bill. They can be easy to get attached too. Could it have been old age? How big of a arm span did it have?
What are your plans for filling those two tanks.

Well, I had asked Jack to call me if he got some small bimacs in a week or so ago and that one was going to go in the 30. Now it looks like I'll put that one in the 56. It should be here tomorrow. He said it was a small one. For those of you who don't know already, Jack at Fish Supply.com has really done me and everyone on this board right. Great guy!

My last Octo had a total span of probably close to a foot. He may have been getting older, not too familiar with how big they get and all that. Maybe you can tell me how big a full grown bimac should get "wingspan" wise. I really am going to miss that Octo, I think I got lucky with his personality.

A full grown bimac will have a arm span of 2 feet.
The large bimac I have now was about 2-3 months old when I got it. I have had it now for 7 months and the arm span is about 16".

Hi bill

Sorry to read about your octopus! But sometimes they do go without too much warning.

Glad to see you are not put off!
