Octo extreme 160 question

my new skimmer is not producing any skimate. For some reason their is no substance bubbling into the head of the skimmer. I have put as much water as possible in the sump with out it over flowing. Is there a valve or anything can start to get my skimmer producing skimmate?

the skimmer need to be sitting in 8 to 10 inches of water

also make sure the air line is not kinked

It is currently sitting in 11.5 inches of water. The water in the sump is approx 2 inches above the bubble plate. There is also no kinks in the air line.

Any insight?

you say it's 'new'.. how new is your skimmer? They take a bit of time to break in. Some skimmers take weeks before they start rockin'. My skimmer took a few weeks actually...

build a stand for your skimmer so it sits in 8" of water. that's what i did with mine and it worked really well.

E.- It has been in my sump for 4 days, but there are still no bubbles reaching the head chamber.

drpo- I had it sitting in 8 inchs of water for three days. when I had no results I have had it in 11 inches of water for about 12 hrs. Not too much of a difference.

they run best in 8-9" of water but will still run in 6-7" since the pump is underneath. I would set it at 8" and leave it for a while ( week or so) my msx took 3 weeks to fully break in. Also where do you have the water level set inside the skimmer?

Maybe the pump has started backwards. Have you cycled the power on and off. It happened to me once or twice.
