32 is nice! 44 was very nice! and probably put a smile on your face :) but like you said, it wouldn't start..
If your worried about motor, then trim the wheel diameter just a little, try it.. if you don't like it again, trim a little more. As far as i know, this is not a exact science.. Sorry my man.. But your on your way

(I think 3-4 layer is all need) ;)

3-4 layers, trim to your liking. Is there a way in which you can record the sound of your pump? I'm telling you man, all I hear from mine is the air draw. Do like Charlie said and trim until it starts. When it starts, if you aren't happy with the air draw, start over with new mesh, but remember, this is about skimmate and not air draw, so it won't hurt to let it run for a day or two , even if the air is not quite where you want it, b/c sometimes the numbers will increase as the centrifigal pulls and flatens the mesh. Are you using zips of fishing lines? How deep is your
water, just mesure it with a ruler or tape measure?

Welcome to the 4:30am club, your not the only one!!!

Rob, you are over thinking this. 7 layers? 3 layers, trimmed close to the disk. Trim off anything that sticks out or up. Make it smooth and uniform. If it doesn't start well, trim it some more. Even with a good mesh job the pump will rattle when it first starts. Be sure the disk rotates freely on the shaft and doesn't bind.

As long as it starts within a few seconds, its ok. Here is one that I was using for reference.

Make sure you trim around the center so nothing is touching the plastic peice in the middle. The wheel needs to spin FREELY on the magnet, if not it will really affect start up, pretty much what sjm23559237593 said.

LOL. I wish I didn't pick that name. I dont know what I was thinking.

LOL

I'm buying a new pump from Aquacave. I'll compare that to the one I have now. I'm 99% sure it's not going to sound like the beast I have now! Aquacave said they will refund my card when I return my old pump IF they think there is a problem. I'm betting $120 there is a problem. If there isn't I'm down $120 and have an extra pump.

My only other option was to ship stuff left and right and be without a pump for at least a week.

I'm going to try to get a decent sound clip of this thing.

A few weeks ago I had 2 Sicces that I wasn't using that I could have let you borrow. Anyway, hope it all works out for you.

If this one sounds the same, you should tell them to refund you the money for the whole skimmer b/c it is LOUD!!! or tell them the new pump is the same as the other and switch back. The ball is in you court, b/c we all know there is a problem.
Good luck.

In his last video, pump sounded OK.. water was just way to high.. I don't know why it wasn't overflowing cup! I was going to suggest to you Rob.. I have a new rotor and pin/w.. if you wanted to try..

Are you going to fill it with Mtn dew? I bet it would pull some nasty sheit out of that Dew!!! Post pics.

The 300 looks sweet.

I know the skimmer doesn't sound loud in that video I shot, definately not an accurate presentation of how this thing really sounds. I don't think the microphone on my pocket camera is so great. It's actually getting louder, I couldn't even sleep last night so I had to finally unplug it cause I couldn't take it anymore.

The mesh wheel that was posted above looks exactly like the one I'm running now. Wish I would have seen that BEFORE I wasted two days playing with them!

I thought I remember Charlie saying he's running 5 layers or something so I was like 7 is going to be even better if I can get it to start. 3 seems to be the sweet spot for me.

Those 2 days were not wasted!
Yeah , i have a 5layer. but the mesh was pressed flat.. i was trying to see if a denser mesh would help in anyway.. I feel it may have helped balance the wheel better..

Guys,

I´m thinking in buy the oct extreme 200

Without mesh mod, the skimmer works well ?

Best Regards

Yes they are a good skimmer! But you may want to wait, ask questions about pin/w .. They have a new one coming out soon.. You will want the better pin/w..

I was supposed to have one in my hands by now for field trials.. the the snow storms mush and stopped fed-X truck from delivering it :mad2:

I dont have one coming for trials and I think i am still as flustered as you are charlie AHHHHHHH lol cant wait to see your results

New one ? I thought the oct extreme 200 was a new one :D

yes it is the new skimmer but for some reason you can get much better pin wheels out there. dont know why coral vue didnt put really good ones in there right away but never the less everything you buy in life always seems to have an upgrade aval
