Octo ID Confirmation

I ordered an octo Briareus but I just wanted to confirm that this was infact a Briareus.

Anyone know?

Doesn't really look like Briareus to me. If you can get some other pics it would be helpful. Also try to fiddle with the white balance so the picture isn't as blue.

Any other info will help also. how long are his/her arms,does s/he have alot of webbing?

Ok, it took the octo a bit to get comfortable and come out for me to take a pic but here it is:

According to my supplier it was collected in the keys.

So far he seems to be enjoying only emerald crabs.

I picked up some live clams but he cant get them open.

Dude... fiddler crabs are much cheaper.

Yeah I know, but i had a few extra emerald crabs sitting around that were growing quite large.

He still cant seem to get the clams open but he does seem to try at least every other day.

Currently I have been hand feeding him a nice sized piece of raw shrimp once a day, just before the lights start to go out. I have been running the shrimp across its tenticles until he grabs on to the food and pulls it in.

You might try cracking the clams for it. Mine's quite fond of raw shrimp too.

Def looks like one, some member of other forums has a briareus named Fluffy...his arms are extremely long for his body
