They're all a success of course, but today was especially fun for me.
I want to thank everyone who was able to come. We had lots of swapping going on today, and personally I ended up with 7 new frags and a new fishy too!
Everything is open and looking happy, and the clown is out and about now too, playing in the flow by the new hammer.

So come on everyone, post pics of your new goodies! I'll get some here too.

Thanks again!

Sorry I missed it. Although today wasn't a total loss fish-wise...somehow we ended up at the Shedd in Chicago! Way cool...

I'm hoping everyone got their stuff from Bri? It's no longer on the porch...otherwise I'll have to have a "chat" with the neighbors...

Oh yes, Bri was here and he delivered the goods... a big THANK YOU to you, Fred, for the shipping box and goodies, it is mucho appreciated!!!
Well, time to try to get some piccies here for ya... hum the jeopardy theme song for a while as I work...

Ok, I got tired of having to upload one pic at a time, only to find that I needed to delete pics (one at a time) to make room for more pics (that I'd have to upload, yep, one at a time). So impatient me has just made a new album, and you can see all of todays pics just by clicking on the little red house in my lineup at the top of the post.
I'm really happy with how "clown2" turned out. Love depth of field, that's the green feather duster behind him.
Mike, if you look at "actfrog" you'll see how big the frogspawn has opened! :D
Jon, that blasto is awesome and fluoresces like nuts! Love it!
John, those zoo's just blow me away, they're gorgeous, and yes I'm going to take you up on our swap, just gotta figure when we can get together. Maybe sometime you can send me pics of everything and we can meet halfway? I'll put some rubble next to that big zoo and see if it'll spread. The hammer looks so full, and I like the shot I took with the flash. It's in direct flow, is that ok? Granted it's not hard flow like most, but still, it's waving around pretty good.
Kass, I haven't seen a brittle now and probably never will again, but I got an interesting shot anyways! Also I added a pic of the emerald crab so you and Jon could see that he's doing great!
hehe, while I was snapping pics I saw that bristleworm and baby, mom and baby out for dinner? Not exactly a cute and cuddly pair!

Well again, I hope you all had a nice time! We did finish that flowerbed and got it mulched, it looks great!

nice pics jess - you do great work with a camera - that actinic shot of those orange fires is awesome!!!

yea md flow is good - expansion is related to flow - if it inflates out nice its good if not it wants less...

Thanks for hosting Jessica, I had a great time! Your tank is coming along nicely, you're doing a good job. I also had fun playing with Bernie, he's a friendly dog. I got a thorough sniffing when I got home! :)

I second what Michelle said lol plus I loved your house and the woods and all.

I got some great frags and had fun. I just wish the Jonestown incident did'nt happen when I got home. I still can't believe I was that stupid.

Oh and I wondered Jess what your temp is in your tank?
Doesnt it matter the temp for a refractometer or is it the hydrometer? My hydrometer reads the same as your tank but I keep my temp around 77 and I'm wondering if it is in fact 4 degrees off. I hate to lower mine too much.

Yep it was a great time like always its so nice to be with all the other crazies  thanks Jess. It was especially cool to meet the newest member that showed up, John now I might have someone to trade SPS with. Gota get that frag tank set up quick. I'll try taking some pics tomorrow maybe they will be opened up better. Oh ya Jess that little anemone didn't last ten minutes a snack for Buster the butterfly. And John you need a couple more babies for your classroom now. :rolleye1:

Yep, thanks Jessica! Had a great time. Not sure if I spent more time inside talking reef or outside talking about guns or hunting with your husband, but enjoyed both :)

Mike, the maroon isn't doing too well :( He was very active right away and looked good, until the other spotted him. Was obvious the existing clown staked out 3/4 of the tank. As long as the maroon stayed in the other end it looked ok. But, it keeps going down to the other end over and over, sometimes right up to the anemone. The existing clown hits hard when it's that close (while only nips some near the other end). The maroon's fins are all frayed, an obvious wound on it's side, and is now hiding where I can't get to it even to take it out :(

Connie said it came out and ate this morning though, so may make it and stick to his own side until he's bigger.

That's a bummer Scooter but they are doomed here too if no one tries thanks allot for trying who knows. It is a good experiment it kinda sucks but like I said I don't have enough room here to separate them so there chances are not good here either. That's why I am not going to do it any more unless I do the coral farm thing and can sell them on the net. Again thanks for trying.

hi all - just a couple pics for you - i'm not very good with a camera but these two turned out OK:

John, I was eyeing up that shroom and put dibs on the next one that Kass has available!
Kass, my tank is at or around 78 degrees, 77, 76 if the fireplace goes out at night. It's usually pretty stable temp wise.

Thanks Jess then it's about the same as mine.
I'm just scared to lower the salinity being I kept it at that for so many years.
I planned on doing it in the nano first to see how everything reacted but then I had the kool-aid incident (thats how I did it lowering the salinity) lol so who knows.

John cool picts. I bet that shroom is really purple under VHO's if thats what lighting you have it under. Jess the new one I cut is already growing a mouth. I usually don't cut them but it was between 2 rocks so I helped it along lol.
Despite the kool-aid most of the new zoa's stayed open the whole time. It's kinda odd that yours John even stay open at night and my existing ones close. I do have moonlights on that tank but all my other corals still close.
All those zoa's have awesome color. The ones I got from Michelle are really nice to.

yeah that shroom is awesome under my actinic VHO's cass - love it!!
most of my corals are open 24 - 7, the leathers are about the only thing that close at night. zoas, LPS, SPS all stay fully (most are even more open) i don't have moon lights. i think its natural cause LPS and SPS polyp out at night to feed - interesting though????

johnanddawn, I was finding the opposite, with the moon lights, my corals would close up less... if at all...that Kenya I got from Kass wilts everynight if the moon lights are not on...

J

interesting???? hmmmm
i wonder if flow rate has something to do with it. i love it when the lights first come on in the morning cause all the LPS/SPS are all polyped out and feeding - really cool, but within 10 minutes they go into day time mode. although ocationally they do close a little, my kenya and zoas rarely close completly
