October MTRC Meeting

Justin, I am sorry to see you are frustrated, and ask people not to join the club.

This club can be as simple as just having a place to let people social with each other, monthly meeting and the swap and such.

If people are not showing interest in something, it's ok to let the idea go, no one's gonna blame you for that. It doesn't matter wither it's a place, a project, or activity, it's ok not to push it... really.

Suggestion, you can consider http://www.meetup.com/ it make the event planning much easier, plus, you will get a good idea if people are interested in certain location or activity.

We put polls on here to gauge interest we post things on the MTRC.org web to gauge interest. No one answers the polls but then people want to complain on here. I am not asking people to not join that want to be apart of the club and contribute. I am asking people that just want to spew on here how useless the club has been to them to not rejoin and go somewhere else. Spewing whatever you want on here does nothing but plant a seed in people minds that might otherwise be content. That's all i am saying.

im relatively new to the club here so any problems and such between ya guys i have no clue on,nor do i know bout ideas that have been mentioned and nothing came of them....i have been here long enough to only notice that maybe 2 of the last 5 or so meetings have had anyone even show up....one reason that comes to mind is the picnic out in where ever it was which was an awesome ide, however it was freakin hot out....cant speak for others on here but thats why me and my family didnt go to it......and as far as the even given tons of advance notice of a meeting not going to work thats total BS because i for one if given advance notice of a meeting could then have one of my kids check ups or my wifes doctor check ups and such not land on that day......if no notice is made and say my wife has a doctors appointment on the 17th and within that same week the club states that the meeting will be on the 17th...well im sorry but i wont be calling off my wifes appointment to attend a reef meeting and im not sure but maybe there are a few members on here with that same problem if not maybe 2 or more on here work for a boss that states hey give me 3 weeks notice before ya want a day off or work a surten shift.....im sorry i dont think many would play hooky from a job to make it to ameeting like ours....having said all that though if before i got on here things were handled in a timely manor and people still didnt show up and they could have then yea that person should probably keep their mouth shut about that sort of thing.....me personally, if nothing comes up like having to take kids to the hospital or such then our week is open then and i and my family WILL be there and i hope many of ya that i havent already met will be too because i look forward to meeting ya'll and talk about something i enjoy alot

well im not raggin on ya zef or anyone else that works this stuff out any if a meeting was planed and it did get changed up cause of what have ya then thats life.....things happen.....sometimes i plan on going to the store and instead of getting home my tire desides to blow lol......life happens....all we can do as members is to make things easier on others that do have to plan this out and such.....less complaining and more doing is always good i offer up my services free of charge.....hosting any meeting however is out of the question for us though being that this is my wifes mothers home and not ours so mom in law wouldnt take kindly to having 8+ members here lol but if there is something like setting up meetings or anything like that that i could do id be more then happy simply because i love this hobby and i like talking to ya guys.....well the ones i've met so far anyways and i'd like to see a club like this thrive and not just servive

Nightfire you have been good about giving notice whether you would ba able to make a meeting. As far as club posting meeting sooner we usually try to gauge interest and dates from one meeting to a next. With so fee people willing to host it gets ery hard for us to come up with places to have meeting with the clubs budget.

thanks for the kind words and as i said having been a manager i know how hard it is to do and get done 50 things at once and this club as ya said can and will only be as good as the members make it out to be

Be honest with you, for club related stuff, I don't really check the mtrc.org website. Maybe we can post the information or link when you need something to be done on MTRC.org?

Well i for one dont know why it is every few months this ugly monster rears its head in the club with the Board is not doing this or that. Guys i could go through the spill again off all the stuff the board has tried to do, which were all things that we discussed with great enthusiasm but when we tried to do something for the club no one wanted help or or we caved in to the few who tend to cry about everything. A club is only as good as its members and most of the members on here are MIA at best so what do you expect the board to do with so little engagement or turn out when we do do something for the club. We set up meeting that are not jsut fish related, NO ONE SHOWS UP we try doing weekend aquarium trips NO ON COMMITS we bribe you with prizes and then a few show up. Why dont we just pay the members to stay a part of the club would that get some engagement. So I for one am sick of all this the board does this does not do that Why dont you as members do something when we try to get you engaged our actions require action on your part to be enjoyed or to realize the benefit of the club. It would not matter if we gave you a year in advance of times and dates of meetings no one would reply until the last minute. That has been the case since i have been apart of this club for 3 years. If you are not happy with the club PLEASE GOD DO NOT REJOIN WE DONT WANT TO HEAR YOUR ****ING AND MOANING ANYMORE GO AND ANNOY SOMEONE ELSE AND SPREAD YOUR VOMITOUS SPEECH ELSEWHERE SO THAT YOU CAN LET BAD ATTITUDE AND STRIFE RUIN WHATEVER ELSE YOU ARE INVOLVED IN.

It was certainly NOT my intention to make it sound like I was upset/angry - I was simply trying to find out what time the meeting was so I could make plans to attend. Oh it's not your fault! It was a lot worse awhile back trust me!!! lol.... But we got rid of some of those folks I hope....Only a few left to go....Maybe one day they'll grow up....

Our president left BECAUSE of the crap that was going on in here and he was just fed up with everything. I really don't blame him either. I have tried to hold meeting at my place before, cooked a bunch of food with only a few that showed up, that kinda made me mad so I do understand the frustration that the officers was going through when no one showed up. I would never say I'm gonna be somewhere when I'm not so people needs to know if they're coming or not. Things do happen all the time though so if you can't make it, at least say something prior. I've been in the club for 6 years now, it goes up and down up and down, but it's gotten bad after we got some cranky people up in here....I personally don't mind the $20 membership fee, if anyone feels your wasting money or time, shouldn't even be in here. Cause after all, this IS MTRC's very own forum on ReefCentral. There is OTHER forums on RC, so head that direction, no one is making you stay. We NEED to get back to what we all are here for "FISH & REEF", it was mentioned sooooooooooo many times before. If you can't have a discussion without getting nasty, keep it to yourself if you think your a bigger person. IF your childish, keep going.... I wish there's a ignore button on here.....:uzi:

Who is getting nasty? The only person I can see that got all bent out of shape was Justin and his tirade in a previous post.

Ah hah! He mans up and actually states it. Not that it took rocket science to figure it out. But please explain, how is expressing my opinion "vomitous"? I actually care to express my opinion, and until my dues run out, I have every right to say what I feel. Sorry you can't deal with that. It's not about the $20. I could literally wipe with $20 and not care. It's "where does the money go, and what is it used for?" I simply said I have seen no return on it. No nothing. How (and please explain) is that nasty, childish, and vomitous? It is an opinion that was expressed without cursing and name calling (such as what you did).

Maybe it's the members fault as you said, and not the BOD. Cool. So direct some of that bad attitude of yours at them, too. I highly doubt one cranky person has tainted the attitudes of 100 and single handedly made the club what it is now.

Jennie none of this is your fault. Justin anyone that knows you knows you work hard and have a good attitude. Anyone of us can voice our opinions anytime we want to but if you think about it its usually how and when you do it that makes all the difference. I can understand why some people get upset on here and I see why the club has went down hill a little but over all we are all still the same people and all of us still love the hobby and want to see each other do great at it. Ive had problems with people on here before but its never been anything that I couldnt talk to the person face to face about and clear up. It reminds me of someone who called me the other day and asked for some advice about someone talking bad about them. I said well I can tell you to kiss my tail one way and youll laugh and I can tell you another way and we will probably be hitting each other in the face in a matter of seconds. Just trying to say you can say bad things in a good way and not look bad doing it. I like everyone thats on here for the most part and I think almost everyone on here has helped me at one time or the other whether it be physcial help doing something to a tank or just advice when weve been talking. I didnt mean any of this in a bad way towards anyone just trying to make a point. For all that have helped me I thank you and of course if you need my help Im just a call or PM away.

It's they way you express your opinion that is vomitous. You don't participate in club meetings very rarely and you want to know where your return is. It's in the meetings in the swap in our club site. But your contribution to the club consists o ou getting on here and spewing your opinion as though it was all the boards faul you have not participated in the club. You have been asked to help with things and have not helped but are always quick to offer your opinion as though it was fact. And yes all it takes is one person spewing all thing time on here with diarhiah of the mouth to ruin it all. It only takes one bad apple to ruin the whole bunch. Do you think that saying came from no where. So of you want to help and see the return on our money participate instead of just slamming your opinion on here.

I know many of us in the club got there money worth. I know a few of the member won a $50 or $25 gift cards the day they signed up at a meeting and some won for being a member. And like this year we will have to pay for a place to have the swap at and I've been looking around and that's not cheap for what we need. Also there's a cost to have food and raffles items. Not everything we raffle off is free to us. I even donate some frags and item to save the clubs money.

Like it been said the club is the members. And I would say 75% of the members are not even on any forums. Which I send emails to and got them on board for group buys. And save them money and help. Which if I have the time I will out of my way to help anyone inthis hobby. And if it wasn't for this club I don't think I would of made as many good friends as I did this past 3 yrs.

That being said mods close this thread down. We got a new one up for October meet.
Thanks RC for haveing us here as a club to help each other out.
