If a person had enough chaeto and other various types of macroalgae, would it cut down the need for a skimmer for awhile , as the algae eats nitrates, and phosphates?

ok , so back the original question

is there a type of algae that will grow under a 30 watt flourescent and still keep an octo

Or you can set up a refugium and keep the macro in there. I would still run water though carbon incase the octo inks. Macros will definately help water quality.
