Octopus Bio Pellet reactor waterflow

Hello,

I recently bought an Octopus Bio Pellet reactor the large space saver one - 3000ss. The pellets are not really turning over. How am I supposed to adjust the flow? I tried clockwise and counter clockwise and not making a difference in the flow. How can I increase the flow?

HI,

You would turn counter clockwise to open up the valve to increase flow, but if all the way open you are still not getting tumbling there might be an issue with the pump or something not setup correct, or some type of blockage. Or you might have too many pellets. How full is the reactor when the flow is off?

it is about little more than half. see the pic. is it too much?

Hi,

They recommend 2200ml of less for there Biosphere pellet. I was thinking 1/3 to 2/3rd would be good target range though, but if you used Biosphere brand pellets and used 2200ml then you would have the correct amount even if it's half.

If you used a different brand pellet, then you would have to experiment until you got the weight right to tumble.

If you used there brand, or our house brand pellet which is the same as tehre Biophere and used 2200 or less, then i would say we get you over to there support techs and have them trouble shoot and see if maybe the pump is not working or maybe a defective valve or part.

I use BRS pellets. I will take out some and try again. If that doesn't work I will order biosphere pellets. Thanks

Hi,

Here is what the manufacture had to say about the video and tumbling issue.

"It appears that there is something stuck in a reverse cone dispersant plate which seems to be directing the flow in one direction.

They did say the pellets themselves might also be the issue, as that brand doesn't seem to work well with the reactor. So if you can't find anything stuck in that cone (i'll try and attach picture) it's most likely the brand of pellets.
