octopus skimmer gate valve mod

So i was thinking i might do this, but not sure exactly what to do. I think i can get a majority of the part if not all at lowes or HD. What do i need and how do i do it? any pics?

here you go (too lazy to take a picture of mine!). I didn't do the airline part. All the pieces are pushed together, nothing in glued.

the only two cents I have on this is the gate valve itself. all the ones in town have a metal screw on them. I took out the screw, works fine except the handle can be pulled off (gravity in your favor on this one).

Which model do you have? I've been thinking about doing this mod to minimize the spalsh in my basement sump.

Here is one link that I found to DIY one, but it's for a NW200 (which may or may not use a different diameter of pipe).

The hard part to find locally is the gate valve itself. Most likely have to grab one online, but as Pasquale shows, it's a piece of cake. I highly recommend it. It makes adjusting the skimmer a snap.

Plenty of metal gate valves out there, but I didn't see any plastic ones at loses or HD when I plumbed my tank
