octopus skimmers

I just wondered if you had the NW150 in stock? It was not listed on the site.
I previously ordered from PA and was very impressed with customer service and my order.

Yes, I would have ordered from PA in a second since I've been a very happy and satisfied customer for many years, but I wanted a NW-200 and your website only had the recirculating versions of the Octopus Skimmers. Is there a reason why you don't carry/list the non-RC versions?

Hi,

Unfortunately we do not have the NW150 in stock at this time. The closest we would have to it in terms of performance and quality would be the ASM G2, which retails for $239.95. If you would be interested in that you can email me directly at jeremy@premiumaquatics.com and I might be able to work out some kind of deal for you.

From there you could actually take a step up and go with the EuroReef RS080 - Promo that is on sale for $178.95. This unit is smaller than both the Octopus and the ASM, pulls less power with a smaller pump, but does outperform both the Octopus 150 and ASM G2. The quality is leaps and bounds better than both the Octopus and the ASM as well.

We are not sure if we are going to keep stocking the Octopus skimmers are not due to the problems we have had receiving them, such as missing parts, broken parts, poor packaging, etc. They have almost been more trouble than what they worth so far.

If you have any other questions please let us know.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Jeremy, thanks for the heads up. I have a Euroreef CS80 that I love, putting together a second tank and was thinking the NW150 would be an upgrade but sounds like best to stick with another Euroreef.

Jeremy and Dave you really think the RS-80 would out perform the nw150? It's only rated at 80 gallons. That would certainly be at the upper limit of what i can spend.

Jeremy how long does the promo last? Thanks for the reply as well...

I have no clue but I know for sure, rankings are just a marketing thing and certainly wouldn't trust the manufacturer rating.

I was thinking the NW150 would be an upgrade in performance so I was interesting to find out if may now be.

I respect Jeremy's opinion since probably have seen many different skimmers in action than I have.

I really think if you had the two skimmers side by side that the EuroReef would indeed outperform the NW150.

We will have the promo for the rs080 going until we are out of stock. I would imagine you would be ok in getting one up until Christmas.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Jeremy, I have ordered from premium aquatics before and the customer service is top notch, and that is one hell of a price on the rs80. But the RS80 is rated for a tank that is half the size as the octopus 150. Most people seem to be very pleased with the octopus line and say they perfom quite well. You said you "think" the RS80 would out perform the 150 if they were side by side. What are you basing this on? A skimmer is a tough purchase because there is very little hard data on how well they perform compared to another skimmer, although there is no lack of opinions out there.

Hi,

I have never ran the two skimmers side by side, however I have ran both of them for lengthy periods, as well as many other skimmers. Just from my experience in that I feel the RS080 would run right neck and neck with the 150, if not beat it out.

If I get a chance in the next few days I will see if I can get one of each hooked up next to each other in a sump or something.

Thanks,
Jeremy
