Im just a kid, but I am getting a 75 gal. tank in a few days.I have read some stuff about octopuses and know their little tactics but I am intrested in keeping one.I know this isn't the greatest idea but I am willing.........Can anyone tell me what I I need to do?

get a great filter for your tank and a very good lid also have you thought where you are getting your octopus from?

I think you can get one fairly cheap from TBS, around $20 last time I checked(plus shipping). THose are the atlantic variety. THey grow to about two inches and live about two years. You can check their site at the bottom of the forums list.

no, Kids with Octos Rule!!!:D

SurfinJK92, yep aquascape your tank with LR. I also put some sea shells he can throw around and a pvc pipe or too. The bottom can be bare bottom(BB) or deep sand bed(DSB) Do not get crused coral because it can hurt the octo.

Make sure you have a heavy, tight fitting let with not holes. Octos can escape from anything. I would also get a good filter to run carbon(in case it inks) and a very large protine skimmers. They are messy eaters!

how much lr would i put in a octo tank in general...a lot or just scatter pieces-not just in the 75, what would be the ideal bottom a smooth one or a normal sand bottom or aragonite? would a wet/dry filter be good .would water params be the same?

octos love alotta hiding places so the more LR the better! Octos love to burry and rough substrate may cut them. I would go with sand or ootlic.

A wet dry filter would be fine. Make sure there are no place from him to escape tho!!

Bill
