Odd clownfish behavior?

At night, one of my clowns acts pretty odd. They both seem to stay near the top at night, but one of them I can actually reach in the tank and could touch him if I wanted! They both seem to be swimming very oddly at night.

Is this normal?

That's pretty normal for clowns not hosted by an anemone or anemone substitute. I've heard that percs are more likely to do this than oscellaris, for what that's worth

I'm honestly not sure if mine are true or false percula's. I wish I knew. They look more like the false ones to me.

nothing strange about that, mine sleep on there sides at night at the very top of the tank, i sometimes have to fish them out the overflow in the morning !

Mine are always sleeping at the bottom of the tank. Just their swimming action made a hole in the sand and that's where they sleep.

Mine do the exact same thing. They sleep at the top. It's cool the way they seem to hover in place with all of the flow when they seem to notice nothing else at all.

mine did this until they slept in the frogspawn

How long did it take your clown to chose frogspawn as its host?

my 2 false percs sllep in the front right corner of the tank..and the also swim wierd, nothing to be concerned with...durring the day they spend alot of time in the leathe coral but at night it collapses and they go to the corner to sleep

Yep, mine did that for a long while before decided to host on top of powerhead :)

no worries

My clown used to do this as well, until he fell victim to the powerhead.

One of mine appearantly cuddled a lil to close to the powerhead the other night. Man I sure liked that fish.

Sorry to hear about your fish :(

If nothing else that's a reason to recommend clowns be provided an anemone
