Does anyone know what type of clown fish this is ? I bought it thinking it was a tomato clown. It's turning dark and has a black stripe.

It looks like Amphiprion frenatus..................

Suposed that this ID is correct.........there are some thing to consider about this species............

Amphiprion frenatus in the wild show great differences between the Males and Females..............

Male are bright Orange/Red..............and have small size............

Females are big......strong fish...........and have a black mante over the body............

These fishes lives almost exclusivelly in the large colonies of Entacmaea quadricolor..............the BTA anemone...........

Young fishes in the way to be breeding Females show progressive color change..........and also they grow bigger than breeding males...........

These pictures are from Tokashiki Island..........Kerama Island.........Ryukyu Archipelago...........Okinawa............Japan.........

To pair your fish..........you have to choose a small male........bright colored........

And you will make a pair like this........

If the ID is confirmed.........

Young Amphiprion melanopus looks similar..........

But in my oppinion this fish is Amphiprion frenatus............
