Odd curing question

Soooo I have a large container or what was once live rock from an old aquarium. it's easily 125-150 lbs. I want to reuse in my newish tank. nothing odd there, happens all the time. to be safe i soaked some of the rocks and tested them. ammonia reading .75 ppm after 24 hours. i go back to the rock i haven't soaked yet and notice a smell. i have hunch my cat may have used this as an alternate litter box on occasion!!! grrrrr!!!! so question. can i rise the heck out of the rock and then pretty much cure as normal and one all reading it zero assume it's aquarium safe again? wife has me on a strict budget and i hate to spend money replacing all this rock if i dont absolutely need to.

I would rinse it, but you might not really need to. It is, after all, just an ammonia source. Then cure and cycle as usual.

Thank you both.

never thought to try that to reclaim in...first instinct was to pee on the cat for revenge :lolspin:

Just as an additional laugh in fresh water (my dark days) I did aquaponics and we use to pee in the tank to start the cycle, we were "thrifty".
