odd issue while in QT

I have had my new stock of fish in QT for 3 weeks, all the time in copper, however 6 days ago my two clowns broke out in what looked like either velvet or WS!!

The odd thing is they are in copper, and the tangs have not a single mark on them, the naso is clean so too the yellow tang.

Any suggestions?

all fish happy eating and no scratching including clowns, bit fast breathing but i think a lot of that is cramped QT and copper.

copper at about 5ppm on salifert.

What brand copper? Assuming you mean .5ppm not 5ppm, if cupramine then I suspect something such as brook. If using a cheated such as coppersafe then you need 1.5 ppm to be effective.

using Cupramine yes sorry .5ppm

I thought brook too but no slime and still alive 6 days on, feeding like pigs! its beyond me.

I might have to separate QT them.

I doubt the heavy breathing and cramped conditions are being caused by the copper. Loss of appetite is usually the first sign of copper intolerance.

They are all eating like pigs ;)

I did a FW dip and FM dip on the clowns today as an experiment and they came out like new! so likely velvet.
