odd mantis behavior

my mantis is acting really strange when I'm looking at him he will swim to the glass on the other side of the tank and start smacking the glass is this because he sees his reflection but sometimes he dose this to the heater to anyone have any ideas

Probably does see his reflection...

As for the heater... maybe he sees himself in that too. Also could be the indicator light turning on/off...
