Odd white things on tang, NOT ich

Please help! I've done hours of research to try to find out what these white things on my tang are, I'll try to get a pic but he swims so fast its hard to get a clear shot. The white things are about 2mm in size and there are about 2-3, he rubs on sand and wants my hermits to clean him, silly thing, I bought a cleaner goby who is scared of him, my cleaner shrimp died the day after I got him, he eats great, breathing fine, swims fine, no other fish has them, not sure what it is or how to treat. He has a patch which looks like its missing scales prob from rubbing that side on sand. Anyone have any ideas?

sounds like my tang has the same thing..

did you by chance get him from the feed bag?

I got a CB blue hippo from them and what you seaid is the best way to describe it. I dont think its ich or flukes..

I got him from Aquatics about a month ago, he had the odd patch on his side i thought it was just a scrape, but then he got 1 white thing, then it was gone for a bit then he got another one, now he has 3, but they don't appear to really bother him other than the scraping and expecting the hermits to clean him... he's a mata tang. From my research the closest thing is anchor worms but they are freshwater only. I think I'm going to try one of the reef safe ich treatments to see if they work and get another cleaner shrimp. the one I got that died right away had been in the store for only 2 days, prob real stressed still.

hey do you of anywhere other that fish place on 76th st that has cleaner shrimp? they seem to be in short supply lately

Mine had 2 of those as well. I watched my tank at night and the tang was letting the skunk cleaner clean him off and in the morning they were gone.

That's it!! and the pop eye is just a secondary infection, and explains why the other 2 fish in the tank don't have it, they are not related! Thank you I spent endless hours researching with no luck! No wonder I never concidered a virus

My Yellow started getting like sand spots on him. Talked to my lfs, the recommended Seachem FOCUS, and MEtronightazol or something like that. Worked in a couple days

other than hoffers on 76th no..
