odds of new goby finding shrimp?

I had a oranged spot goby/tiger pistol combo. Goby died a while back, though shrimp disappeared to. Found shrimp last night still alive after a few months alone!
Question is if I get a new goby will they find each other? I will try to place goby close to where I think shrimp is living after quarantine period. I wondered if shrimp gives off an odor/scent that the goby can smell, or visa/versa.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We just added a small pistol to our 12g, it was given to us by our LFS because he came in without the big claw. Our magnificent goby paired up with it within a day or two. His orginial pistol disapeared months ago and he has been living in the caves in the tank.

Regardless of display size, lighting, tank sandstorm conditions... my Yasha and Red Banded Pistol always find one another within the first hour. I've moved them 3 times.

I have had a tiger in my 90 for 2 months, had not seen him since I added him but I had heard him several times. Well today I bought a wheelers goby and within the first hour they were together and digging a burrow right up front in my tank. Here is a pic that I took 5 minutes ago.

Sorry for the opoor quality, it was my cell and a very shaded area.
