Many gonodactyloids become increasingly aggressive just prior to molting. This young male (78 mm) began using a meral spread threat whenever I came close to its aquarium. This is about as extreme a threat as this species gives. At this point, the animal was only a day or so away from molting and would not strike.

what type of camera and lighting do you use to get such incredible pictures?

Nikon N90s using a 105 MicroNikkor. For lighting I prefer twin SB-28 strobes.
