Ok I know there was a thread about this new aquarium attraction a few years back but I just cant find it to bump it. For the past few years there has just been a sign with the name, but a few months ago they started construction and seem to be moving quickly. We have a few great aquariums in Phoenix (Sea Life, World Wildlife) and soon we will have one more in Scottsdale. http://www.odyseainthedesert.com/

Where does it say the aquarium will be opening? This has been a teaser for a few years now.
Phase one is the Butterflywonderland

The second phase will be Odysea Aquarium, a freshwater and saltwater aquarium attraction on 12 acres. It will include shark tanks with walk-through tunnels, a king-penguin exhibit, an underwater theater and a display of the Great Barrier Reef.

"The Odysea Aquarium and additional restaurant and retail will take 24 months to build and we're looking at opening in 2015,

The third and fourth phases of Odysea will include a Ripley's Believe It or Not museum and an IMAX theater.

I'm Friends with the Executive Director Mike Fox. He head of theButterflywonderland what he told me

My family and I stopped by this past weekend and we went through Butterfly Wonderland. The kids really enjoyed it, as did I. They also had a few fresh water tanks and a fresh water stingray petting pool at the end of the exhibit.

While sitting in the restuarant area, a man asked me how we enjoyed the place. Come to find out, he was the owner of the complex. I asked him about the aquarium and he said it is going to be over 100,000 sq ft. (I guess the Sea Life Aquarium in Tempe is under 20,000 sq ft. ) He said the aquarium is going to be amazing as is the entire complex. The owner lives here in Scottsdale however he has been building large entertainment facilities like this one. There was an older gentlemen with him and he has also been building large facilities, malls etc.. and he is the one who built the largest mall in the world located in Canada.

He said its going to be around 2years before the aquarium is finished, there is a lot of planning and design that is going into it, but once done it is going to be incredible.
