# of returns

Is there a general consensus on the # of returns for a 36x24 tank. Just to be visual I decided on 2 in that wrong. Most flow will be provided by MP20. Return pump is 400 gph.

The more supplemental flow you have via powerheads the less return flow you need. Basically if you are using power heads yu can have only one return. On the other hand I have seen a 150 with 12 returns yet not 1 powerhead. 4 of those returns were over the top from sump. The other 8 were closed loop......This guy had 16 holes drilled in his tank....The thought of that scares me.

+1--i run 2 returns about 200gph each with 2 tunze 6100"s(3000gph) for flow
