Earlier tonight my car got stolen. I live in Plantation and it was stolen right in front of my house! My brother came home and told me my car wasnt outside and I was sure he was kidding but when he presisted I finally went outside and my car was gone. It just sucks when you work so hard for something and someone just comes and takes it. I filed a police report and called the insurance company. The worst part about it is that all my books for school were in there along with misc. notes and supplies. I also took some pictures of my car the night before and left my $800 camera in there and now thats gone. Here is some pictures of her in memory...

Sorry to hear about your lost dude......With a car like that I only have 2 words
Low Jack/ Good Alarm

Although one of your possessions (sp) is lost along with camera and school supplies by some scum bag. Consider this you still have your life to replace what was lost and to make it better then what was. For everything that was lost can be replaced.

Sic ride though dude! You were probably tailed and cased. Surprise they took it in front of the house. It would have been easier to take it at the school.

Bckane is right - next car spend the extra $800 and get the lojack.

that really sucks! the car looks new , hopefully your insurance will replace it! with alittle humor to add, i hope you still have the chicks you attracted with it! but really sorry to hear!!!

Is there anything unique to your car we can keep an eye out for? I'm sure something like the plate has already been changed.

Man, that's terrible. I drive an S2000, and theft is a serious concern, especially due to the soft top. If I didn't have a garage to park it in, I don't know if I'd be comfortable owning one. Slashed tops and stolen seats are WAY too common, and recently there's been a rash of outright thefts, despite the immobilizer built into the ECU. I put LoJack on mine when I bought it, for about $600.

Do you mind saying what area of Plantation? I live in Plantation as well, so I could use the heads up. Drop me a PM me if you prefer not to say publicly.

Mike, it looks like a "stock" Evo to my eyes, I don't see any obvious modifications. I put "stock" in quotes because the Evo is itself a pretty wild set of modifications on Mitsubishi Lancer.

sorry to hear about the car. stealing it in front of the house is very bold as was said before. about the lojack deterent. if the car was parked at 10:00 and the car isnt noticed missing until the next morning than the scum bag unfortunatley has had too many hours to remove what he or she wants and leave the car in the back of a shopping center. but it is still a small deterent IMO

Sorry to hear about that!
Both mine and my brothers cars were stolen(2 years apart) out of the Los Prados apartment complex in Plantation. Mine was in 2000, his was in 98. Mine was my favorite car of all time, my 98 lexus sc400. I wanted to cry/kill thinking about it in someone elses hands!

I'm in davie now but still spend alot of time in Platation and will keep an eye out.

man i didnt take it but i wish i had... that is like my "realistic" dream car... something that if i won like 50k randomly that i would get.... in yellow and/or black... but silver looks good too

sorry to hear about your loss, and i hope you have good insurance that will be expedient with paying you for all your stolen items so you can get on with your life...

I have alot of friends in the s2000 community and those cars get stolen just as much. My buddy who also lives in plantation had is s2000 stolen right infront of his house (broward/nob hill) and he had low jack/alarm/and a quick release steering wheel that he took in the house and they still took it!

For anyone that doesn't know people take mitsubishi evolutions for there brakes/seats/motor/wheels/steeringwheel. The s2000 seats go for thousands online and people throw them in little civics and they do the same with evolutions.

I also live off of broward and nobhill in the jacaranda country club. Just a few months ago my dad(along with 10+ other people in the area) got there high definition lights stolen off escalades. People can retrofit these HID's onto civics and other misc. cars for cheap.

I guess I am playing the waiting game. Right when I found out my car was gone and the police didnt find it within and hour or so I knew it was to late, probably at a chop shot being rapped.

Thanks for all of your comments and concerns.

I actually had 3 cars stolen from me, all three from in front of my house....

Last generation Prelude, that was stock , last generation RX-7 with massive single stage turbo, and other mods, and my first hatchback civic, that car was the one that hurt over 15000 in mods...including those same s2000 seats you where just talking about....bought those direct from honda....but I know the feeling, all three times my father walks out in the morning and said, um son where is your car im like its outside....he was like um...nope...all three times i just sat in driveway stunned and dazed......only the civic got recovered...but I still hit the race spots so Ill keep an ear to the road for someone selling parts, etc....

So sorry to hear about it man, I obsolutely LOVE the Evo's. Have you heard from the cops about locating it? Hopefully it was some punk kids that joy rode in it and not someone looking to do further damage to your VIII.

My friend had an 01 Integra Type-R that was stolen just recently, and his brother had an 00 ITR that was taken last year also. My friend I work with had his S2k's top slashed and seats taken just days after he got it back from the shop.

I had a 99 GSR that I was driving around until I noticed people follwing me home and such. I sold it soon after I moved to South Florida.

I currently drive a 93 MR-2 Turbo that's a little beat up and bone stock and still I worry about it all the time. I keep nothing in it and make sure my insurance is ready.

On the forum evolutionm.net, the biggest forum for mitsubishi's mainly evo's, about once a week someones evolution gets stolen. Some at work/school/house/movies etc.

Someone just pointed me to a recent study for 2005-2006 that said the number one most stolen cars is the mitsubishi evolution and then escalades were one and two.

I just wish I had taken out my stuff. oh well what can I do now but "hurry up and wait"

On a side note, I just got my outer orbit fixture in today. Its the 24" one with a 150w MH and 2 65w actinics w/moon lights. I bought it used from a guy on nano-reef for really cheap. Does anyone know where I can get the legs to mount this beast? Thanks again for everyones comments and concerns.

anywho sweet car hope issurance dosnt screw you over

Sorry to hear that your car got stolen, just pray it doesn't get found, IME I got my car stolen in Newark, NJ when the police found it in the afternoon the thiefs had taken it for a joy ride and stolen a few things from the interior, the insurance decided to fix it but the car was never the same and it bugged me to drive it like that, needless to say I sold it and lost lot of money in the process, hopefully you can get a new one

That does suck.

I lived in Plantation for 20+ years and worked at the Broward Mall for 5 years. It used to be the #1 place to get cars stolen.

Also had my 1997 Mazda RX7 stolen from American Express on Cleary and Pine Island.

I also had a car stolen from a friend's house during a house party in Plantation. As the cops were there filling out the report, the dope that stole it came back to the party. He stole my keys fron the room I was in, and went on a beer run. If he would have asked, I would have driven him.

Bad news was, the cops found weed on him and took him to jail.

Dumb.....

Man, I never thought I would say this, but I'm glad I live in Orlando. Yes, we are one of the crime capitols of America, but neither I nor anyone I know has had there car outright stolen. That is absolutely absurd. Man, some people in South FL are just crooked. I have had a friend held at gunpoint at a stoplight in Miami. Good luck getting that thing back, she is a beauty.

PS, screw lowjack, get a Mercedes with the infrared key...they would need to steal my key to start my car.

It's not that simple cschweitzer. My car also features an immobilizer technology where only your key (programmed into the ECU) can start the car. Thieves have learned to get around this by bringing another ECU/key combo, swapping the ECU, and then driving off. I imagine the Mercedes system could be defeated in a similar manner. Thieves are determined, they can and will take anything they want, given time and the opportunity.

I agree, my 2005 mitsubishi evolution VIII was the first year they put a chip in the key. I was talking to a few extreme car buddies of mine and they said all they needed was an ecu that was programable like AEM or Hondata K-pro to get around it.
