Off subject but well here goes...

this is the only thing i don't like about s. Florida, the crime rate. Ive been car jacked, had my work van broken into twice, and had a generator stolen during a hurricane. After living in Texas for almost all my life, I now that i live in Florida I feel the need to be armed....

I never go anywhere without my second amendment express card! Even though I have a surprise in my pocket, if I need something at home, I use a remington "slugger" high velocity slug load in my 12 gauge.

It's not just newer cars that theives targbet. I have a 1975 CJ-5 that I have been rebuilding since last year and haven't even STARTED on the body work. One of the things I have finished, though, is the wiring, which is 100% custom.

About 3 weeks ago, some kid off the short bus thought that he found my kill switch, but, instead, he found the switch that bypasses my horn switch.

When you hear "Dixie" outside your bedroom at 3:30 in the morning, it's time to grab the 12 gauge. Car theives run fast :-)

If a thief wants your car he's going to get it. No immobilizer will stop them. I left my EG hatch parked in the FIU parking garage once. I removed the quick release steering wheel, took my k-pro, unplugged the injector harness from the firewall, and I had a kill switch! They still figured all that out and stole the car!

Your best bet is good insurance, parking it in the safest places possible, and not leaving anything in the car to tempt thieves.

I'm sorry for your loss, I lost my school books too! THat hurt, especially since I had only purchased them the day before and the car was parked not 200 feet from the bookstore.

Thieves, and car thieves specifically really make me boil. I have an STI Tactical 5.0 .45apc now to guard my ****. The hard part is catching them in the act.

Worst part was getting a check for a $3200 chassis, and not being able to recover the $15,000 i spent in k swap, sleeving pistons rods, cams, headers, kpro, cage, 5-lug, wilwoods, etc etc.. not one mod is covered by insurance except radio, which my car didnt have.

Man, I never thought I would say this, but I'm glad I live in Orlando. Yes, we are one of the crime capitols of America, but neither I nor anyone I know has had there car outright stolen. That is absolutely absurd. Man, some people in South FL are just crooked. I have had a friend held at gunpoint at a stoplight in Miami. Good luck getting that thing back, she is a beauty.

PS, screw lowjack, get a Mercedes with the infrared key...they would need to steal my key to start my car.

That where I disagree, I have friends in O-town that have seen cars just like this jacked once a week, he actually owns a tuning shop,1320 motoring....kinda an underground shop, but build quick cars, last one his is working on is a turbo rsx hydrid in a crx....I know its just stupid to have that much power in a 800 pound car....anyway...its like that everywhere, but this is a larger community so you will hear about it more.

I actually had 3 cars stolen from me, all three from in front of my house....

Now you see why I drive a POS 2003 ford ranger... before that it was a 1999 S-10... before that a 1996 tercel... before that a 1984 chevy S-10... before that a POS 1984 chevy cavalier station wagon... before that a 1982 Chevy Suburban with rust holes that you could fit your head through.

Long story short, no one's stealing my cars, and if they did, no tears, they're probably gettin old on me anyway.

I hope you find your car, and I have a towing company right next door to where I work that an occasional stolen car turns up at. I work right in Fort Lauderdale. I know I'd be heartbroken if my boat was stolen, so that is all I have to equate the theft of that nice car to. Good luck, and have no mercy if you catch the guys yourself.

On the forum evolutionm.net, the biggest forum for mitsubishi's mainly evo's, about once a week someones evolution gets stolen. Some at work/school/house/movies etc.

Someone just pointed me to a recent study for 2005-2006 that said the number one most stolen cars is the mitsubishi evolution and then escalades were one and two.

I just wish I had taken out my stuff. oh well what can I do now but "hurry up and wait"

I've heard of EMnet, my friend has a red VII and is on that forum. I really get worried about not having my car in a garage. Once I move it'll be garaged and I'll DD a small older tacoma or something.

Actually, i believe by insurance law, anything BOLTED to the car is considered part of the vehicle. The only problem is i'm sure this stuff wasn't declared with the insurance company.

Sorry to hear that your car got stolen. After I left the Military,I worked as a corrections Officer in the UK for a few years,so needless to say I met plenty of "light fingered" auto techs. They all, basically had the same advise:-
Run the engine & then go through the fuse panel & pull each fuse, one at a time, until the motor dies. Then try to restart the car.If it won't start, you've found the "kill" fuse. Now if this fuse is pulled & the car is "hot-wired"it still won't start.I know it is not practical to pull this fuse evey time you park(especially if the fuse happens to be under the hood in the main panel),but if you're leaving the car at an airport garage, for a few days, then it is a bit of security.I know this won't replace you're motor, but it may at least help in the future.Once again,I'm very sorry, regards,Darcy
