I could really use some help with a few questions I have about my old motorcycle that won't start..

I own a Honda V45 Magna 1983 Motorcycle.
It is in excellent condition and only has 5000 miles on it.

I tried starting the bike. No Way!
I tried to start the bike by bypassing the petcock and pump with a fuel can with a fuel line going directly to the engine intake. It immediately started and ran great until the fuel can was empty.
I cleaned all the fuel lines and put everything back together, I tried to start it again. It would not start.
I though it could be the fuel pump or petcock or even the fuel cut relay. I check the petcock fuel flow and it is fine. I bought a new pump and fuel cut off.
I noticed when I turn the key on there is only 1 squirt of fuel that comes out at the fuel line where it connects to the engine/carbs area. If I give it full choke and turn the key on/off a few times, the bike will start but stop soon after. It seam to me the pump only gives the initial squirt of fuel and stops. I know the pump is good and the fuel cut as well.
Anytime I try to start the bike it will only go if I have full choke and turn the key on/off a few times to get the carbs full of fuel, once the fuel in the carbs and fuel line is used up, the bike stops.
While the bike key is on and running the pump doesn’t push fuel to the engine.
Is there something other than the fuel cut off relay that would stop the pump from pumping fuel to the engine?
Someting is telling the fuel pump not to pump..
I hooked -up the pump directly to the battery and it pumps none stop.

Sounds like a bad ecm not sending signal to fuel pump. Trace all wires/grounds/connections/relays from fuel pump to computer. Check with test light till you find power.

Something I will try when I get home from Colorado next week.
Thanks for the info MarksReef & Redrider
Hope I can get it started when I get back..

Back we're the battery is look for a set of wires that is plugged off or by the ECM. Take the cap off and use a wire as a jumper. It puts the bike in dealer mode turn the key to the on position it will display a code on the dash. Look up the code. And fix CEO
There. I had a bike do the same thing. Fixed all that the codes said. Didnt work. Ended buying a used wiring harnes for the bike it fixed it. Old bikes wiring goes to **** easily.
