Oh YEAH! Let the fun begin....

I made mine so that they have little lips on the bottom and velcro on the top. I overdid it a bit with the velcro though and haven't cut it back, yet. That makes them easily removable. Worth considering. Hinges might work in your situation, but I didn't have clearance all of the way around.

Thanks. With the frequency of opening, I'm definitely going to go with hinges, but the back right door may need velcro. It sit's next to my desk, so there isn't enough room to open the door more than a few inches...

Well done on the woodwork. Everything looks fantastic! Are you going to get the Eruo soft close hinges?

Haven't decided on the hinges yet. Not sure if I want to deal with mortised hinges or not, and I realize now that the plywood structural reinforcement in the stand will cause some issues with hinges. It looks like I can go the easy route, and just get some decorative face mounted hinges, add a little more work and get hinges that mount to the side of the face frame, but need to be mortised, or deal with building up or cutting down material in the stand to do the soft close style...

Yes I made them. No biscuit, no router. I didn't have the right bit to use the router, and didn't want to spend the $$, so I just made multiple passes on the table saw to rip the notch for the door panels. Then I just used a pocket hole jig to screw the frames together. It was a challenge without the ideal set of tools...

Here's a couple of close-ups so you can see where the frames are joined from the back of the door panel:

Well, I guess I should post a picture with the doors on since they've been mounted for a week :o

Also a little note on something I realized not too long ago:
DO NOT PUT A MIRROR ON THE TANK TO REDUCE TANG AGGRESSION IN A PRIME VIEWING AREA!!!!! Got a nice little bevy of scratches on the tank where they were attacking themselves. Not noticeable unless you look closely, but I NOTICE...

^^^^ I agree. I've been following this thread since the beginning and when I saw it in person I thought WOW! The pictures don't do it justice. Great work Jeremy!

Jeremy has a cool setup. I still cannot get my tank display acrylic anywhere near as clean as his especially next to the sand. Pretty amazing husbandry skills if you ask me. Jeremy, if you have extra chaeto to spare please let me know. I think I have reached unls in my tank to the point the chaeto growth is stunted. I am going to switch to a more yellow halide bulb to encourage chaeto growth.

Looks great Jeremy!

Thanks Mark, it's getting there :D

This tank is the $h!t. Saw this in person. GORGEOUS!!!

Thans Jeff.

Thank you Casey. The iPhone pics just don't do it any justice.

Thank you Glenn. Having had mainly acrylic tanks since 1994, I've learned a few tricks and to keep up on maintenance. And just let me know when you want some chaeto, as I've always got some to spare....
