Oily film

Yesterday I did a feed of mysis for my main tank. It is a 35 gallon FOWLR, and currently stocked with one Nemateleotris Magnifica (firefish). This morning however I noticed an oily coat on the surface of my water...it is kind of blotchy. And I figure it is from the mysis from yesterday. I am wondering if anyone knows of a way to prevent or eliminate this oil from getting on the surface of my water? I am running a CPR BAK-PAK, but so far it hasn't pulled anything up...probably because my bio load is minimal.

Also, does anyone have any tips for weening my firefish off of mysis and onto pellets?

Thanks in advance

You need some kind of surface skimmer to pull that layer off.

For small tanks, some people float a piece of paper towel on top of the water to absorb the oil.

you also might not get enough surface disruption, I usually put up a PH just enough to have surface disruption... and just like mr.ugly mentioned a surface skimming device is very usefull... you depending on what skimmer you use for your tank, they may already make one for it... for my deltec Mce600 I am actually making my own since deltec dosn't make one... the pieces only cost me $7.... plastic pieces and glue... then just use cheap magnets to hold them up... hopefully that helps out...
