OK! Enough chat...Starting a 1000g+ Reef

That sucks...dude, that chicken was awesome. <urp> :D I hope I remember to vacuum the rib eye. I think I will use the Mocha Java Grilling rub, and hit it with some hot sauce.

Catherine...link seems to work fine but that is just to my thread on RF regarding the rescue fish. Time to adopt them out. :)

Food is all gone, and there are no pics. But I will try to get some this weekend. :D

Well, just fish that I took after the owners finally decided aquarium keeping wasn't their "bag". Same people that I got that malnourished dailfin tang from a few months back. Anyway, they broke down the tank, donated it to our local Marin Science Center, and I took the fish for rehab and adoption.

This is the water they were in:

You can see more pics in my photobucket account:

That actually was a problem. They also did not recognize my food as something to eat. It took over a week to get them to eat good food, and now the yellow tang is slurping up shredded nori like sphaghetti. :D

That water is disgusting! Glad you are able to rehab them and find them some new homes.

Ohh! Look page 3 for me!

:D

Well, it just happened again. We had a power fluctuation that had my office PC going on and off battery backup several times. I heard some kind of a noise elsewhere in the house, and thought it was coming from the TV room.

Anyway, as I was getting my son into the shower, I got a slight whiff of electrical smell. His bathroom is directly above our tank room area. Anyway, I venture downstairs and notice the QT (with the rescue fish) is not running, the smell is a lot stronger, but no smoke or fire.

I go into the tank room to check on things and notice that the other QT is not running either. Both of them are on the house current...so back to the outside QT, I check everything out and find that yet again, the Tunze nano cord has fried. This time inside the area where I joined it with a new cord.

No evidence of melting but something oozed out of the shrink. Seems so unlikely since my connections were done with shrink butt connectors, and then a used shrink tubing over the whole joint. But, it is obviously where the problem occured.

So I unplugged that, go to the main panel, and reset the breaker. All is good, but now I am really afraid to even attempt a repair on the pump. It is baffling to say the least.

Fish are fine BTW.

The cord was the epicenter of the last fire. When the power surged, the cord melted and caught on fire. So I cut off the bad part and added new cord.

Got the camera in the house today so I hope to take some pics. We'll see as other chores are calling. :(

Get the most inexpensive computer UPS you can get and power the PH's from them. They won't keep the PH running when the electric goes out but they're the best line filter you can get. They'll protect the PH's and cords.

Is it just me or are fires going around lately? I've heard of 3 alone just recently.

I'm glad everything is okay though.
