Alright, as many know I am having serious issues with my new tank plumbing. So after many more hours yesterday I am claiming defeat. I need someone who can help me out with plumbing and bulkheads. One of my bulkheads leaks and no matter how loose or tight I make it I just can't get it to stop. I also need some ideas on how to adjust my plumbing because currently my mag 24 is sitting on the wood bottom of stand and runs loud as can be. If anyone is available friday after 4, saturday after 1 or anytime sunday let me know, can repay you in frags (if my corals don't die through all of this) or cash. I have tank ghetto-rigged right now, so at least it is running, to try and prevent loss of anything more.. :rolleye1:

Can you post pictures of your problem(s)? The only way to fix a leaky PVC joint is to completely redo it. Adding more glue/epoxy is only a bandaid and will eventually fail if work at all.

Are you trying to hard pipe everything or are you using vinyl?

silicone grease will help a slow leak. try putting a mousepad under the pump, it will help. you should only need to hand tighten the bulkheads.

I dont mind coming out and helping on sunday. I suggest though if you dont want to wait, is silcone all around the bulkheads. I have had to do it before. Redo all the plumbing where it is leaking. For the pump, try putting something under it, peice of foam, or a bunch of folded up paper towels. Something, a rag. Anything soft should help it.

like everyone said best thing to do is replumb. For the mag put a mouse pad as mentioned or even some foam under it. I have both under my darts. I wish I knew more about plumbing to help, but I didnt even do my own, I had someone help me.

i can come by before the meeting and help you repair or replumb the tank. let me know and nothing is needed in return. give me a call. 321-266-8564

Hey joe.......if you are over this way, you wanna stop in and take a look at what I've got so far. I'd like your advise before I order stuff.

with the bulkhead the gasket is on the proper side, i have tried handtightening, still leaked, then tried tighter, tighter, etc. still can't get it to stop. good idea on the mouse pad for the pump! All my leaks in the plumbing have been fixed, just the bulkhead now. Just out of curiosity how loud will a mag 24 be normally? I have someone bringing me a bulkhead wrench tomorrow night, going to see how that works. I will get back to you Joe about coming over, what time is the meeting cause my schedule changed today and proly won't be home til around 4. I appreciate everyone's interest in helping me.

My mag 24 that had running on my skimmer was sitting on a mouse pad and I couldn't hear it running. I had a mag 24 and a mag 18 running on my 220 and it was quiter then my tank is now. I have heard of people having noise problems, but I never had that problem. It is mounted externally?
as for you leak, is the edges clean? maybe some sand of something is sitting between it and the gasket.

i am going to give one last ditched effort, take apart, clean again, and see what happens. I am just so darn tired of working on this tank, been trying to get it set up and right since friday night and every minute i've been home has been trying to get it right. will let you all know how it ends up..thanks again

i believe the meeting starts at 6:00 or 7:00 in apopka. i'll be in that area before so let me know. and donovan pm me you cell and i'll give you a call when i get over that way on saturday.

btw what bulkhead is leaking? the 3/4 or 1". i've got both i can bring to see if thats the problem or if its the mating surface.

i am going to go and buy new bulkhead tonight, and a few new fittings where i have to cut some pvc plumbing..and see how it goes, if i still can't get it right i will definately be calling you joe for help on sat. thanks!

not a problem. call me anytime and i can also possibly walk you through it before then. i just told donovan that i would swing by his place on saturday so just tell me what time.

If you can't find a bulk head you can go to HD and get the electrical conduit pvc fittings get a male and female and then some rubber to seal it.
